Ancient Bloggers: More On The Petroglyphs At Saguaro National Park West

Petroglyphs at Signal Hill, Saguaro National Park West, Tucson, AZ

I'm fascinated by these petroglyphs. So much so, in fact, that you may be getting bored with them if you're a long time reader of my blog. (This is the fourth or fifth post in the last month centered around these ancient drawings in stone.)

The Active Rain Real Estate Network facilitates communication between business people across North America. In a short span of time, we communicate across vast geographical divides, often more than 1,000 miles.

This rock represents just the opposite. In a limited geographical location, it communicates across aeons of time, perhaps more than 1,000 years.

There's something in the human soul that wants to communicate with others.

Oh man Mike, Look at that gigantic rock and puffy clouds, I still pick up cool rocks and put them in my pocket. I was viewing a show on PBS about a species of cacti and how they store water to provide life for all the other wildlife. I'm just guessing it was those same kind of of cacti??

The rock actually looks like a whale. Amazing to see those primitive drawings. Actually, not. That's how I draw!

It really stimulates the mind! It is just amazing to think how old they are and who the artist was and what their intention was...I love these posts!

Wish I could read the etchings, they would probably make a great story. Great pic thanks for sharing

Mike, rock art has always been a facination of mine also. I wonder if they were bloggers or taggers?LOL

OK, I am convinced. I am definitely going to plan some trips to enjoy Tucson this winter. I loovveee Phoenix and the White mountains but will start expanding my horizons. I did go to Kartchner Caverns and Bisbee this year. Arizona is so beautiful. And, by the way, your pictures prove it.

Neat post! Growing up in Texas I have seen many petroglyphs first hand. I was always amazed at how old they are and wondered who put them on the rocks?? I thought I would have been an archaeologist or marine biologist, but somehow I am a Realtor instead?!? Thanks for the great shot!
