Why are so many real estate agents failing to live up to their potential? It's not their lack the skills, or knowledge. It's not that they don't want to succeed and create a better life for themselves and their loved ones.
I've given this matter a lot of thought. As I see it, many Realtors are failing because they FEAR CHANGE. There's something inside them that holds them back, preventing them from finding a new direction.....and so they opt for the status-quo. In doing so they remain stuck in a holding pattern...never moving forward and seizing the opportunities that await them.
FEAR OF CHANGE is a major obstacle.
- What if I GO BROKE after making changes to my routine, or way of doing business? At least I know what I've got now.
- I'd like to change, but I just don't have the time right now. Perhaps tomorrow? (Tomorrow never comes.)
- I'm not sure how I should change. What can I do?
- I'm perfectly content with the way things are.
ALL OF THE ABOVE ARE A SURE WAY TO A DOWNWARD SLOPE.
In previous blogs I've suggested making a business plan, branding your name, becoming involved in your community, finding new friends among the movers and shakers in your community, niche/target marketing, setting aside an hour of quiet think time every evening, establishing a written game plan.....and on and on.
I doubt very much that 1 in 10 Realtors have even bothered to write a business plan. They JUST DON'T SEE THE NEED FOR IT. How can I say "STUPID THOUGHT" without offending you??
If you're not enjoying the kind of Real Estate success you want you MUST adopt a new way of thinking. There is no "tomorrow" for you. There is no luxury of delay.
Long time readers of my blog will have seen the words READ, LEARN, INNOVATE CHANGE AND ADAPT....AND THEN PUT ALL OF THIS INTO DAILY PRACTICE. These are not just words. They're the basis of what every successful business person must do to succeed.
Only a naive optimist would think the real estate business is the same as it was 3 years ago. Yet, most are still operating as if it was 2006.
To those who are perfectly content drifting along in yesterdayland I wish you a happy....if not a hungry future. To those seeing the value in change, but can't find the courage let me suggest making only one significant change to your business and marketing model per week. Ease into it.....but be consistent in moving forward.
Start by writing a business plan.. Here's a government website with sound to walk you through the process. .....then learn everything you can about personal branding.
The last thing I want to suggest is getting those TailgateTags on your car. You simply can't afford not to have your website, phone number or business name NOT SEEN by thousands of potential buyers weekly. It's just not sensible. TailGateTags are only $39.95 ea.. CLICK HERE www.TailGateTags.com
