Yesterday... I'm glad it's just a memory I can laugh about now!
I had two BPOs in a neighborhood that's out of my neck of the woods, but not to far, so I agreed to take them. I set my GPS and immediately found one of them and ... the other did not seem to exist. So I called the court house in Jasper County and a really nice lady gave me directions. Didn't sound bad on the phone, so off I went.
Well when my GPS said I'd arrived at the first one I was alone deep in the woods with no houses around. HMMMMMMMMMM. So I drove back until I found houses and found a man outside in the yard and stopped to ask him. He gave me more directions and I found out the street address the bank had wasn't complete. It wasn't just Turtle Cove Trailwayl, it really should have been Turtle Cove Trailway Circle. So I turned around and drove and drove and drove and finally found my subject house.
Oh and it was still occupied. Did you know people don't like it when you get out of your car and begin to take photos of their home??? Fortunately for me, my camera is quick and I was back in my car and driving away by the time the lady with the broom got down her driveway (or is it the bank's driveay) I'm not sure what she was going to do with that broom.
So I'm back tracking miles and miles to get back to a point where I knew directions to my next BPO. The really nice lady on the phone didn't tell me I would be going 15 miles down a dirt mud road. I kept wondering as I slid and slipped and creeped down the muddy road if my directions were correct. But finally I did find a street sign for the road I was looking to find. It was paved by the way. So after driving down 15 miles of mud I'm now in a really nice looking subdivision in the middle of no where. Found my subject, got my photos and headed home.
Well as I turned back on the dirt road my GPS told me the shortest way home was the other direction, not the direction from which I had come, did I dare? I did.
It had taken me a lot longer to find these two homes than I had imagined it would and frankly by this time, I really needed a rest room. And driving by the Lake Jackson dam and seeing and hearing all the water flowing from the flood gates really didn't help matters much at all.
On the other side of the dam was a public boat ramp. And yes, there were restrooms, well at least that's what the sign said. Now I'm a smart girl and I live in the country and I keep TP in my car. So I set out on foot from the parking area to the "restroom" in the rain through the mud on foot. As luck would have it, it was an outhouse and not a real rest room. But when a girl's gotta tinkle, a girls gotta tinkle.
Finally I made it back to town and back to my office. I went to collect the mail for the day and found that my office mail box was now home to a few million ants and their eggs. There was a trail up the post with little soldier ants taking eggs from the rain and over saturated ground up the post and into the mail box. So in the rain I grabbed the mail, ran to the porch and beat all the ants off my mail. I managed to do this without a single bite.
Then I went back to the mail box with the bug spray. Then on the third trip I took paper towels to clear the mail box off dead ants and eggs. Did I mention it was raining?
Then when I was ready to run to the bank I realized it was Wednesday and in my little town the banks close on Wednesday afternoon.
So today I'm thankful... thankful I'm working at the office (real bathrooms), thankful there is no more rain falling, thankful the BPO I need to get done is very close to my office, thankful the bank is open all day, and thankful that Justine told me there were no ants in the mail box when she went to mail a letter.
I hope you all have great day today! And don't laugh too hard that I had to use an outhouse.
