If you are working with a mortgage professional (broker or banker) make sure they are a member of the National Assocation of Mortgage Brokers/Professionals.  If they are, then they have stepped up to be part of the solution.  It is imperative for my Realtor friends and Realtor partners to work with National Association members.  Work with those who dedicate their time and resources to make our lending community better... not those who ride one the coat tails...
