ActiveRain comes to San Diego. There are several major Hotels along the waterfront for our upcoming NAR meetings starting Nov 13th, 2009. This hotel is right on the south side of the Convention Center where the EXPO will be. If you get a room with a view, you will be directly across the water from Coronado Island and all it has to offer. If you want to go there, you can take one of the convienient water taxis and find yourself at one of San Diego's finest treasures, Coronado Island. We expect to have beautiful weather but then, we always do in San Diego !

William, the San Diego waterfront is such a nice place.  I have not been there in years but have fond memories.

William, I have not been to San Diego since 1968. (Vietnam war days) I am sure that a lot has changed since then...

Helping you live your American dream...

That's the very hotel I was in with the Navy pilot during the earthquake a few years ago. ;-)

William - the white and blue contrast of the photo is amazing. You have captured it perfectly.

Ugh, Bill. You can have it.

William - Your photo is filled with "sailor's" blue & white colors, just like your bays are filled with sailors.

Good Morning Kevin,

I would bet there are lots of people that have fond memories of San Diego. Once you have either lived here or even visited for a while, it gets under you skin and calls you back. So why not plan to update those memories and come to San Diego for the NAR meeting next month. In fact you might even want to book a room here at the hotel in the photo and it would have you centrally located right next door to where all the action will be. ActiveRain will be there, front and center.

Hi Susie, Well that is very cool. With everyone coming for NAR week in November, you can fill people in on where to stay. We have a lot of Navy Pilots near by but not so many cowboys.

Michael, The views from this Hotel are next to some of the most beautiful in San Diego. The waterfront on the San Diego Bay will delight all of your senses. Lots to do, lots to see and it all awaits your arrival.

Hi Jeff, Many Thanks. Considering I took this shot from Cornonado  Island, it came out pretty good. The day was a bit hazy but then that can be the case often in late summer. Fall is here and sky will be crystal clear for the NAR meetings and Expo.

Hi Karen, That was an interesting comment. I hadn't thought of it but I guess the hotel architect did, :-)

Hi Michael Thornton, I wrote you a comment back but somehow it didn't post. So here it is again. You would not recognize San Diego today. Back in the 60's , San Diego's main industry was the military. Today, the military shares tha spotlight with Internet Technology, Medical Research, and the tourism trade. Downtown was old then and it has been completely revitalized. Hopefully you will come and enjoy alll the new treasures that make San Diego truly "Americas Finest City"

William - thanks for a timely post. I am planning on coming to ReBar on the 12th - are you going to be there? I will have to reserve a room soon - I've stayed at the Marriott several times there before.

Hi Sharon, Yes I fully intend to be there and I will of course look for you. You have a few more choices this time around. See you on the 12th

William - I rode into the San Diego Harbor (North Island NAS) on the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk in 1994.  I was on a Navy guest cruise for 4 days to San Diego, from Seattle, Washington.  I will never forget seeing your beautiful city from that vantage point. . .It's even more beautiful now!

Hi Myrl, So much has changed downtown in particular. It is finally becoming the grand City on the Bay ( think San Francisco and how it became such a popular destination ). We just have better weather, :-) Always appreciate it when you come by. I suspect that I will be taking a good number of photos. I was fantasying this morning of leasing a plane and doing a photo and video shoot of all of San Diego, divided into segments of each community, then selling the rights for reproduction. When I realized the upfront cost, I of course came back to my reality focus and decided it might be best left to others. It was a fun exercise but shows you where my is. Best I correctly re-focus my efforts on my real estate business, LOL.

San Diego is the place to be.  I love the waterfront photo.  We are a little luckier than Bill -- No snow yet in So. NH, but I am sure it won't be too long before the white stuff will be falling... and I'll be ready to jump on a plane too!

Hi Joan, I hope you can capture that first snow as it is always the most beautiful. I grew up with snow and it was fun as a kid. It seemed like the bundling up lasted as long a journey out in the weather but was still worth it. The weather patterns give a unique and richness to each area of the world but being able to have a little of of it is ideal. We will get snow here out in the East and this time, I hope to be able to capture our little part in the snow flurries. Because our cars  ( tires) and our lives don't focus so much on it, we often miss the fun parts by not being prepared in time. So I have my senses ready when the snow finally comes to be able to show what snow looks like in pure sunlight of San Diego.

William - That certainly does sound like a grand fantasy.  I've had a few of those in my life too.  Unfortunately, when reality hits the metal, it's usually the brakes, rather than the accelerator that I hit. . . BUT, we are allowed to dream aren't we:-)

Hi Myrl, I am not for sure if you are speaking of the picture and of the NAR meetings here in San Diego or the contents of one my comments, LOL. Perhaps it was the point about the a room with a water view looking over to Coronado Island. Or that I was going to try and capture a snow fall out East ( like in the town of Julian ) when the snow finally comes there?

Hi Joan, I take it you like Blue, LOL. Lots of blue and white. When I saw this , I was fascinated as it really stands out when viewed from Coronado Island where I took it from. I would have give it points from an architectural vantage.

Hi Joan, BTW, did I forget to post a photo Wednesday. I will have to check. Taking so many pictures these days I guess I could easily find one and fix that, lol.

It just hit me why your new Profile photo looks so familiar....there used to be a TV show that opened with the guy posed like you are. Now all I have to do is remember the name of it??

Hi Joan, Well that is very cool. This picture was taken last month and it was the only one I had with high enough resolution to be used in the Profile. After messing around with changing my professional photo, ( now with low resolution because most settings would not accomodate the portrait quality photos), short of leaving nothing up there, I put this one on. I have been meaning all week to take my professional photo in to have it scanned so I can put back up in the profile.

What is so nice about this current photo is that if you met me, this is what you are likley to see, me with a camera , with one eye looking through the lens lining up a photo.

William ~ I was in San Diego on one of my first trips to the US about 12 years ago. Lots of sunshine and sandy beaches. My favorite. Love this photo, I can only imagine how stunning the views must be...
