A house fire can devastate a family. October is Fire Safety Month and it's time to check the batteries in our smoke detectors again. Please follow the fire safety tips to protect the ones you love and have a fire safety plan for your family. Including the smallest members. Did you know that over 500,000 pets are affected by house fires every year? Sadly, over 40,000 of them die from smoke asphyxiation. Thanks to the Bark 10-4 Program, you can help save the life of a pet by donating a Pet Oxygen Mask to your local fire department.

There are over 30,000 fire and EMT departments in the United States with several fire trucks each. If every engine had it's own mask, imagine the lives they could be saving. For only $25.00 you can donate a mask to the department of your choice. It's easy to do, just follow the link to Sponsoring a Pet Mask, I just did!

Please visit the BARK 10-4 website  for more information and consider SPONSORING A PET MASK to this great cause.

Hi Debbie!  What a great idea!  I wonder if they have a 'Meow 10-4' program too?!  I have one of each so, I should donate 2.  Thanks for posting this--I've never heard of it before!

Hi Debbie, they gave a demonstration on dogs, but there are three different size masks so I'm sure they can be used on cats as well. What an awesome program! Thanks for commenting.
