Save money on your homeowner's insurance
In this economy we are all looking for ways to save money! Homeowner's insurance can be a large chunk of your yearly bills, so why not try to save money on your homeowner's insurance?
- Buy your homeowner's and auto policies through the same company. You can save 5-15% by bundling your insurances. Just be sure that if you are changing insurance companies that you are still happy with your coverage.
- Raise your deductable. You can save as much as 25% to raise the deductable.
- Improve your home security. Many times you can get discounts if you install a security system, deadbolt locks, and smoke detectors.
- If you have been with the same insurance company for years, you may be eligible for a discount. Some companies will reward returning customers with policy discounts.
- Review your coverage. You may not still need coverage on things like jewelry (which you may have sold). You don't want to pay for things that you don't need.
- Get a Wind Mitigation Inspection. In areas that are prone to windstorms, these inspections review the structure (roof, garage door etc.) of your home and submit the safety features to your insurance company. Many times the savings are as much as 50%!
