Last night in Northern Chisago County and across Minnesota it turned ugly, and FAST! We had our Wednesday Night Bass League on Rush Lake in Chisago County. Prior to our take off at 6 pm, we watched the weather report and nasty storms were in the forecast. Here is the Report from Channel 5 EyeWitness news including pictures. We watched the drama unfold from the lake in our boats, the clouds and lightning was incredible. Lucky for us we were just North of the storm, only 2 miles South was a completely different story. From our vantage point it was incredible.
On our way in this morning we were driving through Stark and Harris in Northern Chisago County and saw numerous homes with broken out windows, siding with holes from the baseball, and golf ball sized hail. It was amazing that nobody got hurt! Two agents from my RE/MAX Associates Plus office in North Branch, Wendy McClure and Jeannene Brackett, suffered considerable damage to their homes and vehicles.
Wendy was telling me about a giant hail stone that squashed a nest with little baby birds were crushed from hail stones in the nest. Reports of dead geese and ducks littering the shore of lakes and docks.
Minnesota IS a great place to live, but, it is amazing how ever so often Mother Nature shows that she is really in control.
