Growing up in the Boston area, one thing that always got your attention was an impending Nor'easter. When we were kids, this brought with it the added expectation and excitement of a potential blizzard, and of course with it, the prospect of missing several days of school.
Right now we're in the midst of a Nor'easter, although because of the time of year, we're only experiencing a deluge of rain as opposed to a ton of snow and all the havoc that reeks. According to Wikipedia, a Nor'easter "is a type of macro-scale storm along the East Coast of the United States and Atlantic Canada, so named because the winds come from the northeast, especially in the coastal areas of the Northeastern United States and Atlantic Canada...Nor'easters also can cause coastal flooding, coastal erosion, hurricane force winds, and heavy snow."
Now that we've had this storm for a couple of days, it's starting to take its toll. The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for our region. Now if you've been out of touch and missed this impressive Nor'easter, don't worry, the National Weather Service is calling for a 2nd storm to hit over the weekend. Wow, Craig! I've never lived on the East Coast. So, I've never experienced a Nor'Easter up close and personal. Right now, we are experiencing sunny skies and expecting highs in the low 90s in Southern California. We were chilly earlier in the week when it dipped into the 60s. We have such thin blood here! Sounds like you better get out and stock up on supplies.
