Benicio del Toro Speaks Up for Monkeys

You probably know him from his roles in movies such as Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Traffic, 21 Grams, Sin City (my personal favorite), and many others. He's also won an Oscar, a BAFTA, a Golden Globe, and a SAG award. Now actor Benicio del Toro is adding one more bullet point to his résumé: animal defender.

The Puerto Rican actor has penned a letter to the governor of Puerto Rico urging him to halt the construction plans for Bioculture's massive monkey-breeding facility. As you might remember, Bioculture—a company that supplies primates to laboratories—plans to capture monkeys from their homes in Mauritius, hold them captive in Puerto Rico, and then sell thousands of their babies for use in painful and deadly experiments around the world.

It's good to see an actor stand up for something good instead of getting all involved with their left wing crap. Kudos Benito!

Good to see a high profile person taking a stand against animal cruelty!

I've always liked Benicio del Toro (my favorite is "Unusual Suspects", the first movie I saw him in). I think this is great that he would put himself out there like that.

As usual you are on top of things. Thanks for letting us know about Benito's support of the plight of the monkey.

BTW- My favorite B.Del Torro movie is The Usual Suspects with: Kevin Spacey, Gabriel Byrne,Kevin Pollock and Steven Baldwin. As I recall it was nominated for 7-8 Academy Awards, but somehow only won 2-3 of them. It was an amazing piece of work!

Thank you for letting us know about Benito's stand against animal experimentation and his fight to halt the construction of the Bioculture's monkey breeding facility in Puerto Rico. We all need to help him and the monkeys by writing letter's to the governor of Puerto Rico. It only takes a few minutes. It will help to end the construction of the planned facilty and save the lives, pain & suffering of innocent monkeys. Thank you for posting!

Good job Benicio del Toro, your stock just went up in my book. I'm a fan of people in the public eye, that have a bit of sway on public opinion, that use this power for good like this. Way to go!
