Real estate seems to be infested with an increasing number of "mysterious companies." These are companies who claim to offer a great service of one type or other if you sign up but have one tell tale sign of the old "I smell a rat".
Don't get me wrong, I take my hat off and have a huge respect to anyone who starts a company. The world is full of "Wantrepreneurs" who will tell you of their great ideas but never actually commit to starting them. There are those that manage to get them going but never manage to get launched, Some get launched but never find customers and so forth over each hurdle to where you finally have revenue and dare I say it a profit. Anyone who starts, whether successful or not is a hero in my book.
BUT, if you start a company you must must must come clean and state clearly who you are and who is involved. A simple "about us" page on your website is all you need and I won't accept any BS for why you won't do this. I have heard claims of "but I'll get spammed" try the other one! There are a hundred simple ways to prevent your email address being harvested by computers "duncan dot logan at nationalbls dot com". I don't want sales calls? Unlucky! You are a business and I would put money on you will be making sales calls sooner or later. There is simply no excuse unless you are deliberately hiding something, like a twitchy nose and long tail.
The fact is, if you want me to register for your website, if you want my details or even worse the details of my customers you had better come clean and share yours.
I have a list of companies who I really hope fail. I am not going to detail them as they don't deserve the attention or publicity. Some of them could be competitors of NationalBLS. They go to great lengths to hide who they are. Why? Because nine out of ten of them are agents trying to make a quick buck of fellow agents. If I was an agent I would be laughing all the way to the bank, I have the details of hundreds of prospective buyers and sellers who have signed up to our service. Other agents sign up their buyers but they do so in the full knowledge and safety that no one in the company is an agent and if they were we would clearly state it.
I encourage everyone to avoid any company which does not clearly state who is involved. They don't deserve to survive and they certainly don't deserve your details.
