Why I Do Not Quote Rates Via Net Or On A Blog

Why not quote a rate & get everyone excited about my low rates?  Why not say I'm at 4.5%?  Just to get the business?  I do not agree with quoting rates on a blog because they change faster than the weather in TX.  The rate is based on many factors, not just the latest DOW numbers.

Folks,

If you ever see me quote a rate on a blog, you are welcome to come and egg my home!

I just will not do it.  I may state a range, but to say a 30yr fixed FHA loan is at 4.875% today is irresponsible.  To publish a rate online, knowing full well that the rates can change in a matter of minutes is ludicrous.

There are websites that list national averages for the week.  I'm fine with that.

What I can say is my rates are usually better than the big box bank.

My clients also enjoy moving in to their homes on time, experiencing excellent service during the loan process and less worry.  They know I'm taking care of them personally.

Melissa,

I agree and follow the same practice.  I will verbally quote a rate, usually not my absolute best, but with all the qualifiers until I get a complete application.  I love the look when I better what I told them, rather than have it get worse.

I have a few friends and family that call me every time there is a new radio add with some gimmick wondering what its about. Its a nuisance but at least they are calling me and not another lender.

Dan,

Thanks for the reply.  I'm 100% in agreement with your work ethic, as I do the same.

Melissa - that's why you are one ethical banker, in an unethical world in which we live in. That personal touch is what people want, not the sterile environment of a bank who doesn't care and has no feelings for the customer.

Thanks for being you!

Nick- Thanks for the support.  Your a darn good guy.

I even have an office, people can sit down with me.  Not a cubicle...how do they fit people in a cube?
