Well here is your chance to BE from another planet.

What planet are you from?

The current economic climate on Planet Earth has led most of us to have all sorts of opinions as to what should be different and yet there is really very little consensus----and enough malarkey to go around from all factions----most of it obscenely cloaked in one socio-polligious agenda or another.

I thought it might be fun to step back from the concerns of this planet for a moment and travel waaaaaay out in space, to where your very own personal planet happily and effortlessly spins around its equally glorious sun.

You know the one----the one where everything is the way YOU think it should be?

Since it is a given that religion and politics ARE NOT FUN----please don’t share in your comments what religion and/or politics would be like on your perfect planet.

Instead---let’s get right down to the “serious stuff” and see what kind of differences we can come up with.  The “catch” to this little exercise is that I also want everyone to think of some drawback to that “perfect” difference----given that everything perfect has some “mole.”  If your planet is so perfect that you can’t imagine any draw backs, that is fine----but watch out----I, and everyone else, will be looking for one.sunsmile

I will start the list (which also provides the exercise format) with:

On Planet Charles----IT ONLY RAINS AT NIGHT!  (Dang! No more rainbows!)

I really love this planet  just fine. . . I'm fortunate  that I have traveled on 3 different continents and I honestly can not find a reason not to like our beautiful earth.  Everything . .bad or good has to exist so our nature can be balanced.

I think in all honesty that planet JL is a little too scary for even myself to think about. It would likely be just as backwards and confusing as it's namesake.

I am making a Virtual Tour of my planet right now!

As far as planets go ours sure is hard to beat.  Not that I have much to compare it to.  I would like to say that my perfect planet would be like the one we have right now perhaps more land in the tropic of cancer tropic of Capricorn regions for rainfoest potential (there seems to be an awful lot of land not in great use because of poor climate siberia, Antartica, Sahara).

Climate control regularity.  Where a band of storms revolve around the earth in a nice predictable way like once every couple of days.

Animal diversity and land conservation is a must.

When you really think about it everything that seems bad about our planet is there for a reason and seems to have beneficial side effects.

I guess my ideal planet would be Much Much Bigger like the size of Jupiter with a much larger atmosphere. Average temperature 78 degrees, with a slight breeze, partly cloudy.

Like I said the one we have isn't that bad provided we treat it like it is the only one we've got.

Fernado, while I basically agree with you, I would like to think that we could maintain balance without going to such extremes

Jeff, it is hard to think about imaginary places without the framework we come from

Gregory---and how is it looking?

Klee, I like the idea of putting more land in better places:)  Probably piss off all those extreme mountain climbers though!

Charlie, I DO get asked that question quite often. I also get asked "What boat did YOU get off on?". Boat? What are these folks talking about? I did not come here in a stinking boat. I came here in my model XP24RTX Ultra with twin warp drives. ☺☺☺

On my planet everyone would speak only truth. Opinions would be unknown. Hmmmm...so already I don't like that planet. Where's the fun? the creativity? OK, we can have that with truth. Probably a bit tough for me to come up with my utopia on the spur of the moment. A glass of wine around a campfire with friends==that would get planet creation going.

Michael there are lots of those old sayings.  Another one is, "What rock did you crawl out from under?"

Sherry---good example of the problem with thinking about "perfect planets."

"A glass of wine around a campfire with friends....."----makes you wonder if that is how this one got started:)

Verdant green hills, warm weather, deep blue oceans, gentle breezes...I think I'll just move to Hawaii!

Charlie,

I read a similar post once, it was written by this famous clown. Is he a relative?

A lot like Star Trek TNG, in the working for what you love and having choices... And no mosquitos or fleas, thank you :)  (I'm sure there's some down side to getting rid of them, and right now I can't think of it).

Charles, I like this one.  I am very shallow so...

On planet Ana, my kids get along, the Atlanta Braves play year round (and I have a jet to go to games anytime I want), it rains once a week in the early morning and all my favorite foods are fat and calorie free.  I have a HUGE wine cellar that everyone donates to and TV has no commercials.

On my planet it's all about getting rid of those who are overly passionate about politics and not pushing their religion down my throat!

Shoshana----birds and bats might not survive

Ana, all very wise choices---but mostly the no commercials part:)

Cheryl, you can come and visit mine when you need a break:)

Carol, unfortunately being overly passionate about almost anything will take its toll sooner or later:)

I'm not banning all bugs, just the two really itchy ones... can't we give the birds and bats all the others? :)
