Today I lost my favorite car I've ever owned, It has been a work horse since I got it! My 1994 Jeep Cherokee had 217,000 miles on it, been to many homes with many buyers. Been on many road trips, brought home many pets and never gave me an ounce of trouble in those 217,000.

My 1994 Jeep (My Work Horse)

Total repair bills for those years other than oil changes and tire was only $800, this car rocked and I would love its equal. But today, it was all gone in an instant when a older gentleman crossed the center line and left my wife the choice of hitting him or taking the car and rolling it in a 15 foot ditch.

We had a witness and everyone is alright, but I will miss my Jeep. Anyone got any ideas of what another great car could be for me and my real estate car. I do like simplicity.

oh my! I'm so glad everyone's okay! Thank goodness it was an older car and not one of today's plastic models.  I'd say go hunting for the same year/make/model if you love it that much!

Oh Todd, I'm sorry! I'm glad everyone is alright. I know exactly how you feel as I have an older car that I absolutely love and see no reason to replace. This past Winter a young driver sideswiped me due to icy roads and I held my breath worried that the insurance company would total my poor car. Fortunately it worked out and I got it back good as new.

They're still making the Cherokees you know....maybe just a newer model?

Again, glad everyone is ok. Feel sorry for the older gentleman, he must have been mortified.

Todd, Sorry for your loss.  That sound corny, but I know many people relate to cars like pets or more.  We name them, remember the day we got them, experience significant life events in them and yes even mourn their passing.  You had outstanding success with that Jeep, beyond what anyone would have anticipated.  It will be hard to replace.

Todd:

Very Sorry, Give your Wife a lot of credit as she made the right choice not to hit another vehicle. Thank God that no one was injured.

Hi Todd.

I hope your wife is alright! Someone once rear-ended the vehicle that my husband was driving while I was the passenger. I suffered soft tissue damage and it took about three years til I could do much. I hope she is okay.

Sheree - Love the photo! Finding another 94 jeep that has lower miles in not easy.

Larry, oh we hit the other vehicle and hard! It was that or the ditch, she didn't have a choice, if we didn't hit, we would have rolled the jeep and possible killed one of us.

Todd - Thank God everybody is Ok. Accidents are always scary. I would also look for a new same model Jeep. I actually drove one a couple of years ago for a few months and really liked it a lot. ~Rita

Hi Todd, I hope you can find a suitable vehicle soon, and your family gets back to normal. I have a 95 Jeep Cherokee 4x4, bought it new in 94, and its been great. Your right, they are real work horses. It has 203,000 miles on it now. Jeep's are great for showing farm & ranch properties, and my back seat lays down to make room for the signs, etc.

Tood - Thank goodness everyone is okay. I'm sure it is sad for you to lose a car that has been so reliable. Sometimes those reliable ones are hard to find. Good luck!

Todd, I'm so happy everyone is okay.  I also love my car.  It's been the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned but some think it's cheap.  You might want to read the blog I wrote "Does the Make of the Car I Drive Matter?'

Hi Todd...Great News you are both okay. Cars can be replaced. I had 92 Chevy Blazer vortex for ten year, low maintenance..the V6 was a trouble free motor. See if you can find one they build that car for many years.

I now have 2001 Mercedes M430, Safe car, and reliable, maintenance is expensive if you go to the dealer.

Glad everyone's okay.  My husband was tellilng me the other day that he thought I should get a Jeep Cherokee.  I didn't pay any attention to him then, I think I will now!

Hi Todd!
If you loved your Cherokee, why wouldn't you get another Jeep?  It is the perfect car for Beaverton driving and is a full utility vehicle.  Mind you, I don't have one...it just sounds like you should stick with what was a success!

Hi Todd,  I am so glad everyone is ok.  I hope that the insurance company does the right thing by taking care of this without penalizing you.  I agree with Paula, why not another Jeep.  I hear that Toyota 4 Runners are nice too.

Todd -

Great to hear Sam's okay.  Driving is a series of choices.  To swerve (and roll) or not to swerve (and hit instead) has to be decided in a split-moment.  Glad she made the right decision.

It's so easy to make the wrong one.

Todd - An accident can happen so quickly leaving only a split second to react. Glad to hear everyone is safe and nobody was injured. It is tough to replace a vehicle that has been such a gem. Good luck.
