Ashamed to admit it...but I had never been to the Cape Coral Oktoberfest until last night. What was I thinking? Well...maybe I work too much...but that story is for another blog.
This year the Cape Coral Oktoberfest is held two weekends in a row...October 16-18 and 23-25; 4pm to midnight Fridays, noon to Midnight Saturdays, noon to 9pm Sunday...at the German American Social Club, 2101 Pine Island Rd, Cape Coral, FL.
I am here to tell you that if you have never been...YOU MUST GO!! And those of you that have already been I am sure I will see you there again. This is a first-class festival. Huge!! Huge!! Huge!! Tent with comfy chairs, music playing I was told that they fly German Oktoberfest bands in from Germany. It was so authentic and fun!!
Outside the tent there are food vendors...try the sausage dinner, ham hocks, sauerkraut, potato pancakes, ice cream, funnel cakes, etc...Rides for the kids, more bands and dancing outside the tent, exhibitors, and oh...did I forget to say beer?
People come from far and wide for this event. Several Festival goers were dressed in Oktoberfest clothing. At one point I asked a gentleman seated at the end of our table where he got his hat...his reply "Germany". He didn't speak much more English.
Cape Coral Florida-I am once again proud to call you home!
