I just read an article by Chris Adams of the McClatchly Newspapers where the topic was how the loan servicers are poised to make billions of dollars, yes, with a capital B from the loan modification program, all the while homeowners (as taxpayers) are funding this stupidity.

Either give the money directly to the homeowners who are in true need and get rid of the middle men or abolish the program as this program has only helped a small fraction of homeowners it was designed for due to lack of cooperation from the private sector companies who helped create this mess in the first place.
