This Thursday, I'm going to an all-day conference focused entirely on Twitter.

Are you serious?  That's what a bunch of people have asked me.

So, if you follow along (on Twitter, where else?), you'll know what 100s of people are having for lunch that day.

All kidding aside, I'm attending TWTRCON DC 09.  What to know what this is all about?  Here's a description from the conference website:

Join the Real-Time Revolution

Twitter is transforming business, government and the non-profit world. At TWTRCON DC 09, a one-day conference focused entirely on the business use of Twitter, you’ll see case studies and learn best practices from leading organizations that are using the real-time web to deliver measurable results.

Register for TWTRCON DC 09 and:

  • Learn how to use Twitter to listen and respond to customers and stakeholders
  • Find out how micro-blogging can influence opinions, increase organizational collaboration and create new business opportunities
  • Network and share ideas with leading business, marketing, media, PR and government executives, key Twitter developers and social media experts

Here's a partial screenshot from the TWTRCON website:

Twitter Conference

I'm excited to learn how people in all different industries are using Twitter and am sure to learn things applicable to my chosen field of real estate.  This conference is being held at the Grand Hyatt in D.C. and the featured speakers list includes people from a Who's Who of corporate America including the following companies and government agencies:  The NHL, Craigslist, Pepsi, Dunkin Donuts, The Wall Street Journal, Intuit, USA Today, Sodexo USA, FDA, Washington Post, AOL, Sprint Nextel, The Air Force.

The sessions include such topics as:  Twitter for Business 101, Real Time Brands, The Brandividual, The Real Time Organization, Twitter and Recruiting, Twitter and Advertising, Real Time Response, Geo-Location and Mobility, The New Rules for Real Time Business.

Plenty of people are paying $595 to attend this conference.  I luckily got a huge discount by applying through the standby program.

Still think Twitter is just a fad?

I love it!  I teach technology and online marketing to agents and the vast majority I encounter do not "get" Twitter.  By the time I get done with them, they may still be overwhelmed but at least they see the value.  Enjoy the con and report back!

Brian - Do I sense another blog entry after the conference ?  Or a few tweets during ?  Sounds like an awesome opportunity to learn more about unlocking all the potential success and opportunity from Twitter.  We try to learn more about it each week.  You only learn more about doing it and going to great seminars like these !

My girl friend keeps pushing me to get started with Twitter.  Maybe I will attend.  Thanks for sharing the information

Jeani, nobody "gets" Twitter when they first start.  Most don't "get" Twitter even when they're using it all the time.

Nobody used to "get" blogging either.

Interesting.  I haven't gotten into Twitter the way I should but right now there are only so many hours in the day.  Can't wait to follow this and learn the outcome from the conference.

That sounds expensive for a one-day conference. REBlogWorld was only $200, and Twitter Conference LA (a 2-day event next week) is only $299. Will be interested to see the tweets that come out of the DC event.

So did they have 1000 speakers come on stage for 30 seconds each, give you and idea and walk off? Maybe having the next speaker say the were retweeting what the previous speaker said?
