I just found this awesome free service from Google. It's a new voice recognition information service. You won't manually dial telephone numbers or waste time and money on information calls anymore. Check out the recent YOUTUBE demonstration.
The new Google service is relatively simple to use. I programmed 800-GOOG-411 into my cell phone. Now let's say I want to call a restaurant and I don't know the number. I hit the speed dial for information. The Google voice says, "Say the name of the business and the City & Province or State." I say, "Amuse Bouche , Surprise Arizona. The Google voice says, "Connecting" and Amuse Bouche answered the phone.
It's really simple and totally FREE! You can also have a text message sent to your telephone. It works on cell and landline phones, and available nationwide, Canada & US! How cool is this!

I had no idea Leolinda. It sound great, I'm not sure why google doesn't have a list of all its cool features. Or does it and I don't know? I just learned about google reader and I'm having fun with it.
Had to come back to urge people to watch the Google video. Cute video! Mt. View is in my area of work and Google is known here to have a fun, zany work environment--it shows in this fun video.
Hi and thanks so much for the tip. I'll definately be using this...that is, if my slightly Cajun accent doesn't get in the way as it does with some voice activated systems!

Don't we all have an accent? Mine is New England. We don't pronounce our "r's" very well! However, my voice dial on my phone recognizes me so I am hoping the same for this Goog411 thing. Sounds great - am going to set it up right now. Thanks for the tip.
I just love Active Rain!!! :0)
Diana, being from Hawaii, I have distinct "Pigeon English" accent. I am sure that yours will not be difficult at all. Good luck and thank you for stopping by and commenting.
