2 Comments on George Washington Slept Here: Historic Home Ownership
Elaine,
It's so nice to see another Realtor who is aware of all the facets of historic properties. I'm not sure about that part about historic properties selling faster because they are rare, at least in my Delaware and Pennsylvania market. Many of the 100-200+ year old houses I sell need varying degrees of work and may be near what were dirt roads that now have modern traffic whizzing by.
So many people want the home to be perfect and ready to move into and don't have the time, money, or inclination to do restoration or maintenance work. And the market is sooo slow. But at least none of my historic home owners are facing foreclosure. Well, one of the more recent sellers is having to rent out the house because she couldn't sell for what she paid for it a little over a year ago.
Anyway, keep up the good work!
Hi Carolyn,
I love to sell Historic Homes. I have sold many and I am in awe when ever I get to show a historic porperty. It does not hurt my best friend is Martha Washington at Mt. Vernon and before that she had a long career at Colonial Williamsburg. Mary instilled in me the love of historic homes.
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my blog!
Elaine
