Kapalua's Bay Course Offered for Sale

Bay Course Hole #5, Kapalua, Maui

Kapalua Resort's much loved Bay Course is now formally offered through CB Richard Ellis' Golf and Resort Properties division (www.cbregolf.com).

Designed by Arnold Palmer and Francis Duane, the Bay Course opened in 1972.  Since that time, this trophy golf course has become one of Maui's most popular courses.  Players enjoy the ease of play on the par 72 course, along with stunning views.  In 2008, the course was home to Kapalua LPGA Classic.  At the clubhouse, you'll find the Pineapple Grill, one of West Maui's most popular restaurants, and the Kapalua Tennis Gardens, operated by Peter Burwash International.

There are several resort communities nestled along the Bay Course, including the Golf Villas, the Ridge Villas, the Ironwoods, Pineapple Hill, and Pineapple Hill Estates.

Earlier this year, Maui Land and Pineapple, parent company of the Kapalua Resort, sold the Plantation Course for a reported $50 million.  The Plantation Course is home to the 2010 SBS Championship (formerly the Mercedes-Benz Championship), and Kapalua Land Company continues in its management capacity.

Courtney - Wouldn't it be great to own a golf course?  That picture makes you just want to grab your clubs and hit the links.

Aloha Susan,

I'm not much of a golfer (it looks more like croquet when I play), but the scenery makes it well worth while!

Thanks for reading!

I'm not sure I ever realized that golf courses are bought and sold, but I guess it's just another type of real estate, so why not? Someone has to own them.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for reading.  Several of our golf courses have changed hands over the past years.  If you visit the CBREgolf.com listings, you'll see others in Hawaii and around the US listed for sale as well.

I'd start playing golf again if our desert courses looked more like that.

I visited your TP website. It looks nice, do you get a lot of traffic?

Hi Rich,

Thanks for visiting!  I do find I get traffic to the TP website, especially if I direct clients to it via email updates and newsletters.

Courtney,

I'd forgotten about the Plantation Course being sold; $50 million sounds like a real bargain on Maui! My dream is to own one of the homes in Kapalua, but I'm probably more in the Kahana Ridge price point. Who knows?!
