Here in South Carolina we have great Universities with great athletic programs.  We're proud of this and many display their pride and support by wearing school colors and decorating their automobiles with tiger paws and gamecocks (in this case Clemson and The University of SC).

An avid supporter of Clemson gave a listing presentation proudly driving up in a car that looked like a billboard and wearing a tiger paw lapel pen.  At the conclusion of the presentation he asked if he could work with the potential client to get their home sold.  He was surprised when he was told they were going with another agent.  He later saw these prospects placing groceries in their car, proudly decorated like a Gamecock billboard.

Others may have opposite opinions and will not work with you for that reason, no matter how good you are as a realtor.   Displaying your passion to the public doesn't help your cause and can destroy your business!

Tvette and Dennis,  This is very good advice.  We need to keep in mind that our prospects may be coming from a totally different world view than we are!

Unfortunately that can be true. However, isn't it true that we tend to migrate to the person (company) that shares our same interests. It brings a sense of togetherness and/or that you would have something in common other than just the deal at hand. Plus, a client may believe that if this person likes what I like than I know we will always be on the same page. I can remeber a client hiring us plainly because our last name was polish and she said she knows we would work hard because of our roots. Now, is that true..who knows. But every other contractor did screw them over.

Do you think it would have been any better if it were a blue tar heel, or maybe a red bulldog?

Makes you wonder what will happen if at closing the buyer shows up decked out in orange?
