Ever wonder how to preserve your personal belongings or business records in garage keep moisture out.

I "haul in normal bricks" elevate all my boxes off flooring stacking on top of single layer.  It allows height prevent any damage to items stored if I don't want use shelving.

Garages can have all kinds of moisture:

  • Car with rain dripping off it
  • Opening garage door with weather
  • Hot water heater installed in closet it should start leaking
  • Pet food I maintain in large plastic trash cans

Russ I don't care if my garage is "fashion forward" just clean and neat THEREFORE OLD trash cans once scrubbed and etc. I use for all kinds of storage and "stuff" even lawn equipment to stabilize w/o "falling over"

Pet food  stored in older containers.

Thanks Lynn - I learned the hard way at my old house.  I don't remember if it was the first or the second flood in my garage that prompted me to get everything off the floor, I just remember how many things i had to throw out and what a mess it was.

Hi Lynn--

Good advice to get everything off the floor.  I use plastic boxes--yes, it's more expensive, but what cost losing personal items with so much sentimental value???  I also found these great rolling racks (I used to have a store, so I'm really into rolling racks of all kinds...) I can tuck them against the wall and pull them out when I need that specific racks contents.... Like most Americans, I still have tooooo much stuff, but I'm working on it!

Tamara LOL... I keep a dolly AND all boxes a certain size ... therefore If I can't pick it up move it then too big of item for storage...

Lynn--Keeping the boxes the same size is really important!  I used to think if I couldn't move it myself I didn't need it... moving between all those remodels got old!  But now, with this green project, I did some major furniture pieces to stage it... hopefully, when we get an offer, the buyer will want the furnishings!

Lynn--On this one, I'd probably offer it as a separate package.  OF course, if the price is right, I might include it!

Yes, I've seen cars, ski lift tickets, vacations, all the trimmings.  Funny, many of those still don't sell.  We actually have a category for furnished, partially, negotiable or none...  Some of our sellers leave the silverware and snowblowers!

Hmmmm that's not an angle I had considered before.... Some of my buyers would probably love it, others would negotiate a winter's worth of shoveling the decks and entry too!
