Hi David,

Wow, your garden looks great. My few little tomato plants are about all I have in the ground this year. And in so-cal so many of our yards are the size of a postage stamp, unfortunately that doesn't leave much room. But I absolutely loved your photos! Great work.

A beautiful garden, David! I'm a little south of you, outside Vancouver, and on my third summer of learning to garden in a new climate for me, which consists mainly of waiting to see what will survive the long rainy season and the acid soil. Lime is my friend!

Your photo inspired me to try allium again. What is the plant with yellow flowers, right in front of the allium in the photo?

I am so jealous.  What more can I say??  That is absolutely beautiful.  I'll post a photo of a Gladiola when they bloom.  If they bloom.

Michele, Thanks for looking and the compliment.

Lynda, Thanks for looking.  We used to have a postage stamp lot.  We've been in this space for ten years.  In those ten years we have completely remodeled the house, dug a very large pond, planted over 150 trees, made a vegetable garden bigger than our previous entire lot, and done a huge amount of perennial gardening.  All done just by my wife and myself.

Suzanne, the alliums do very well, we have at least a dozen varieties.  The yellow plant is phlomis.  The best way to learn gardening is to get out and plant.  You'll make mistakes, have successes, and continually move things around to find the right spot.  We keep running out of beds, so make new ones.

Lenn, I'll look forward to seeing your glads.  We don't do many but definitely enjoy seeing them.

David, did you grow your allium from seed or from "real" plants?

Looks good. You picked a sunny day for photos. Few of those and far between.

Suzanne, The allium, like most perennials, are grown from dividing other plants.  They then come back every year.

Yeah Steve, the suns  been out for a day and a half.  Weird spring so far.

Barbara-Jo, Definitely not Florida.  We are a northern, but maritime climate here.

Debi, The reason the  "rhubarb" looks so huge is because it isn't rhubarb.  It's Gunnera, and the leaves are nearly three feet across.

Thank you both for looking.
