Pajama Party in Paris

Every once in awhile I just get lucky. This past week was one of those times. Girl in Pajamas

I should preface this by letting you know that I was born in Alliance, Ohio and lived there until I was 11 years old. My best friend (since we were 2-years old) was a wonderful person named Dorothy. She was really mad at me for moving to California and leaving her without her favorite playmate - a feeling she remembers to this day. This past week Dorothy, a couple other old schoolmates and I got together in Vegas for a wonderful time. We laughed so hard, I thought our cheeks would fall off. It was amazing to find that the bonds we shared as kids were still strong after 48 years.

Another great treat was getting to go visit our third grade teacher. Yes, she's alive! Seems to be the first question out of everyone's mouth. We had a fabulous lunch with Mrs. Siebert and her husband. Even after all these years, she's as wonderful as I remembered her to be.

We stayed at the Paris Hotel. Every morning Dorothy and Jackie ran downstairs to the little French bakery and bought fruit, pastries and coffee and brought them back to the room for a pajama party. I highly recommend it.

What a lift to my spirit those 4 days were!  May we never forget those people who have been such an important part of who we are.

How fun!  You're a lucky woman to still have these ladies in your life.

I couldn't agree with you more, Susan.  I don't think I ever really appreciated the impact of our friendships until I got older.  And, I think, wiser.  Enjoy your day!

Hi Michael - Our world is so mobile that is makes long-lasting relationships hard to manage - even with today's technology.  My friends and I are planning on making it an annual event.  Can't wait to see where we go next year!

I know exactly which French bakery you are talking about.  I love it too!  Sounds like you had a great time.

Hi Irene - Isn't that bakery great?  It was hard to choose which pastry to pick.  You may not know it, but if you also eat fruit when you eat French pastry, there are no calories.  Good to know.  ;)

Seriously, Irene.  No calories.  You have to eat the most luscious thing they have.  As long as you do that, no worries.  ;)

Pamela, now those are great friendships...after 48 years.  How wonderful. There is nothing better than to laugh until it hurts.

Hi Rebecca - I couldn't agree with you more.  How many times do we laugh til it hurts?  Not enough, I'm sure.  Thanx for adding your thoughts.

Pamela, sounds like everyone had a great time and I would bet all will most likely want to make it an annual event!

It was the best time I've had in a long time, Mary.  Bond from childhood never die.  We just picked up where we left off about 48 years ago!  Yes, we're planning on making it an annual event.
