Today in Oakville, our local real estate board (OMDREB) put on an interactive panel discussion called Tricks of the Trade and agents young and old shared ideas and insights to help one another develop. It was very enriching and helped us all realize that in fact we are working on the same team. Frankly, I walked away feeling proud to be a realtor!
As someone who has worked in corporate life for many years and considered myself a "professional" prior to going into real estate, I am often saddened to see the "bad reputation" that real estate agents still have in the general public.'
Yet, most of the realtors that I have met are people who have a lot of heart and desire to do a great job...and most do a great job, and are among the most dedicated and hard-working people I know.
Yet every so often, greed, ego or desperation seem to too often get in the way of us "taking the high road" and working together for the greater good of the public and to create respect and value for what we do.
WE ARE A PROFESSION, not adversaries! Like Gary Keller of Keller Williams says, we can always find a Win-Win solution if we don't accept Win-Lose.
I liked this photo of two bees working side by side, not feeling threatened by one another.
Do you have any stories of how collaborating harmoniously with competing realtors has helped your client and ultimately elevated the image of our profession. Every little bit helps...
