Activerain you are my rock when I am an Island

I am resigned to the fact every offer is not going to stick and every deal is not going to make it to the closing table…I learned these things 25 years ago when I started in real estate.

But each time I ask a question in my posts…real estate or not I get an answer from someone who has walked a mile in my shoes.

In between frantic phone calls and chaos breaking out in unexpected places, I can open this bookmarked site and read stories of how to solve problem we all face in this uncertain time.

It doesn’t matter if my friends are talking about their market, their family or the hunt for a loose chipmunk…these are my friend’s stories. From Montana to Memphis, from Portsmouth to Plano, Colorado to California, Washington to Wyoming and Hawaii to Halifax, these are all places where my friends are.

Activerain is a rock, its there when I have a minute in between the craziness, or when its quiet as a mouse, it’s the coffee shop without the mark up, or the local bar without the cheers.

I have friends I ski and golf with, I have friends on facebook I went to school with, but none are paid on commission and work weekends because that is when business happens.

When all the cliché’ are put aside, great post, thanks for sharing, best of luck with this listing…we may roll our eyes but know this is done to let you know someone read your post.

We may be in different time zones, but the things we have in common make us special to each other. I have 103 followers in my 20 months here in the rain, that means more to me that the points, or the outside colleagues that don’t get this “blogging thing”…We get it and that is all that matters.

It is the beginning of a new week, we have the chance to help each other and make a difference in some family's life…who could ask for anything more.

Thanks Activerain for introducing me to these fine real estate professionals, you are my rock in an unsteady sea of change.

Susan...We fight the good battles everyday...sometimes single-handed, but I know a place I can go where people have been witnesses the same struggles and understand what we go through...everyday!!

Steve,

What a great post.  I enjoyed reading it.  As a fairly new AR user, I've been fascinated by the friendships and connections everyone makes.  Great stuff.  I'm very grateful for AR and the outlet/avenue it allows us to have with fellow professionals resulting in friendships.

Steve, I feel the same way.  Active Rain has opened a whole new door for me, it is nice to know across the country we are not alone in a sometimes lonely business.  I think you are a super star, the passion and care you show for what we do and your clients shines.

Kim...Do you know my friend Debbie, she's from Utah too. I find it fascinating that people in my own state, that I have never met have come to my assistance when I had a question or issue. This is a great platform to be part of and like minded people have a lot of good ideas, you may want to know about.

You hit th enailon the head, Steve.  I started about the same time as you did and the points were the big thing.  I wanted to get to the top of my town.  Once there I had a new goal.  I am at the top of my state now andas I look back, it's the people and not the points that make this the site it is.  I think most of us figure that out after a while!

I love my sweet Donald so much, but he really gets tired of hearing about my problemed deals.  ActiveRain has improved my marriage.  I have other people I can talk to about those things, people who understand.  Because you are right, my facebook friends from high school and college, they don't want to hear about it either.

Nice job!  What a great way to start my morning!  An example of what you are expressing:  last weekend my daughter ran in a local marathon and as I stood there waiting for her to cross the finish line, I saw a guy cross who had a full head of blond curls.  I immediately thought of your son and didn't take my eyes off him until he reached his "people" who were waiting for him.  I thought it might be Conor and I watched to see if you were there.  Do I sound like a stalker?  I see things everyday that remind me of someone, who I have never met in person, on AR.

Sharon...Stalkers are only after Celebrities, the rest of us are just hoping to connect with friends we haven't met yet. Thanks for the nice comments, I hope to meet you in person some day as well I promise to call first, no lurking around street corners!! Steve

Steve.. This post of yours comes from the heart.  I think it should have been a *featured* blog.  Why?  You put into words the way most of us feel here.  It is a family, and one we can always come back to when we need someone to chat with.

Val... I wanted to thank my friends for being my sounding board, confidants....and many times my source of inspiration. And certainly why you are among the named list.
