I wanted to cheat with Linda Wetzell and Re-Blog buying a bank owned home but the embed was too wide.

Who are you cheating with (I am asking who have you Re-Blogged) no confessions please.

What is Re-Blog? - Why it's not hurting anyone

If you don't understand Re-Blog it is syndication. Use Search there's lots of blogs about it. If you are a Rainmaker you can share content from for consumers from people who specialize in home inspection, finance, staging even if you don't.

I seldom Re-Blog content written to those in the industry. As you can see I Re-Blog content to consumers.

I'm cheating on ActiveRain (if Re-Blogging is cheating) and my readers get good content out of it!

I've seen lots of excuses why not to use Re-Blog. Are you cheating consumers out of good content on your blog?

Hi Maureen, I understand, and agree totally. I don't see how it is cheating to re-blog, as long as you use your own words. thanks for sharing.

It's like a good story or joke, some things need to be passed on.

Maureen, Good post. And I agree that re-blogging continues to spread another author's words around as well. The only issue I have is when someone "rewrites" your words, without a hint of thanks for the inspiration.

REblogging benefits the author and the person reblogging it. It is a great way to obtain exposure.

If the blogger okays reblogs.. then it's ok...

Re-Blogging like most syndication (real syndication ) benefits the reader... more than anyone.

Do we ever know WE were the inspiration? Unless it is truly a personal story most RE ideas are all over the Internet close to simultaneous.

I believe in attributing things to the source in most cases but I remember 2 posts refering to Pavlov's dog experiment. One got featured on AR, another member cried foul...( I almost said "fowl" and they were NOT about the same topic.

Maureen - not only does reblogging benefit consumers, it also benefits the original author as well as the person doing the reblogging. The original author gets more Google juice by having his or her blog post reblogged. And the reblogger rides the shirt tails. You both get added Google juice.

I sometimes reblog other posts when I feel those posts will benefit my readers. I always add a short paragraph or two before I reblog the posts.

Catchy title and great post Maureen. I've of course seen others re-blog and appreciate it when I've missed the post, but never re-blogged myself - even when I thought it was one to share. Now, I think I'll check into "how to re-blog" and be ready to share those great post I read with others now. Thanks!

Who do you recommend to cheat with?

Hi Maureen, thanks for the good information I thought I would disagree but you're right on. I see a good post that affects my area or answers questions my clients may have and I re post.

Oh you are making me go back into my archives to see whom I have reblogged.

Esko Kiuru and Ken Cook are outside contributors so much of their content is "reblogged" without the actual "reblogging" of it. They just get approved most of the time and sent to my outside.

I tend to pick topics that will benefit my outside blog reader base and current market conditions.

Why reinvent the wheel? If an expert in a certain area has written a wonderful post, why not share it with my readers? Everyone benefits.

Thanks for the recommendations Renee... I don't know Fred Glick, Nevin Williams or Reuben Saltzman but I will be looking for them.

I think it is rather simple. If someone feels that it is cheating, then do not reblog. If the author thinks that reblogging is cheating and does not want others to use his content in a reblog, then do not allow it.

But if we do not mind taking what others allowed us to take, then it is not cheating

If re-blogging you is wrong, I don't want to do right!

Maureen, du-uh! Anyone who doesn't wish to be re-blogged can skip to check in the ok to reblog box when they post.

Last week, Gary Woltal posted two of the funniest blogs I've seen. Neither got a gold star so I reblogged them. I haven't done much reblogging, but I do think I'm going to do more whenever I see something good, especially if it isn't featured.

And I am sure they do Patricia. but does she think other members are cheating? Or maybe it's that she is such a gifted writer that her readers would be cheated by anything less than her words, images, videos etc.

Collaboration is a big part of social media.

Gary's a very popular member, publishes a lot of motivational stuff.

Maureen love your style! what's not to love about sharing good info? I consider re-blogging an honor and a privilege that can benefit everyone - the blogger, the re-blogger, and the reader. - totally agree with the comment from Carla and it made me smile!
