I have seen lots of posts around the rain about Realtors and their reputation of not returning calls.

Guess what that is me.  Yup, I will readily admit that I don't return phone calls!

You are a lender with 20 years experience and exotic loan products that no one else has.  You want my buyer.  Well if you have what you say you have then why are you making cold calls and not busy working your @$$ off with getting loans done?  Every good lender out there is working lots and lots of hours drenched in buyers.

You are an "investor" that wants my seller.  Sorry but this flipping scam doesn't work and it wouldn't be an arm's length transaction.  There are plenty of distressed property owners out there for you to prey on.  Why do you need MY seller.  Go find your own.

You are an investor (note no quotes because you actually have money) who wants me to spend several hours with you because you are buying 10-100 properties.  I will be happy to sit down with you and talk exit strategy (marketing plan and bulk listing fees) because I know you are really just trying to pick my brain "for free".

You are the bestest home inspector in the world...........

You get what I am saying here!  There is not enough time in the day to work with everyone and to chat with everyone.  I am extremely choosy with whom I work with.  I have no assistant (showing agents, yes) but I do my own paperwork, I make my own phone calls, I am the real deal.

I have an idea...........why don't you send me a buyer or seller and allow me to TRY IT BEFORE I BUY IT!

meow and hiss and growl

Happy Monday :)

I learn new things every day... You have a dog.

And I don't return some of those calls, either.  And I work hard to get off the phone quickly with them, too...

Renee - I typically don't return those types of phone calls either, there just isn't enough time in the day and if there was I would be spending it elsewhere.

The best is when the mortgage or title guy actually shows up at your office, on what I am sure is a long list of other brokerages, to 'introduce themselves and drop off a card and some promotional literature'

Thanks for stopping by, I will file it in the 'appropriate cabinet', you know, the circular one

Only time it is reasonable is when one is New to teh business

Michelle:  Not enough time in the day!

Nevin:  LOL are you "one of those guys?"

Renee,

I don't return those calls either.  I don't know how many Home Buyers Scouting report accounts I would have it I let every mortgage broker who wanted to help me with my business set me up.  I tend to be of the same opinion, you send me some business and I'd be happy to reciprocate.

Renee, sound advice!  Those types of calls will eat up your day!  The ones that I hate are the ones that come through the office for me, then they want me to buy their web site, marketing program or whatever and are nearly impossible to get off the phone with politely, which leads to my being rude.  Anyway, I agree, these calls are a waste of time and should not be returned!

Renee: Thanks for the post. I just finished a great book "The Go Giver". The idea is what you talk about. My relationships with others are based on mutual respect with no expectations. If I can help someone else, I'll do everything in my power to make that happen. Again, I appreciate the post. I like your attitude!

Fernando, you sound like me...a little...I'm working on not sounding like that too much. An ex-wife can be just to darned expensive, and wives in general are expensive enough (no offense, ladies).

Renee - HA! That's definitely a mojo to have. The broad brush stroke just doesn't work when it comes to returning phone calls, nor should it.

Love the 'send me a buyer and seller and let me try it for free'.

BTW - you always take my calls - I should be flattered?  :)

Renee

I get lots of these calls each day; I often wonder how they have honed in on me. In the course of a day I also get about 400 emails of which; you guessed it, half are bogus and again I wonder why they don't have better things to do like make money with the public.

Renee - I am with you.  Might I add that I don't respond to emails about the aforementioned either..

Brian:  Giver's Gain is such a good concept!

Tony & Darcy:  YES!  GRR! I love the ones who "pretend" to want to buy or sell to get past the gatekeeper.  Those are the ones I REALLY won't work with!

Fernando:  That is flipping hilarious!

Paul:  Sounds like an interesting book and I may have to pick it up!

William:  true story and fernando's comment is hilarious!

Virginia:  You are my mesquite referral partner, of course I am going to answer and return your calls.  FYI, when I was JUST getting ready to drive into mesquite on the 10th, I answered my phone.  It was an agent and she was casual and sounded like you, "Hi Renee this is Virginia".  Oh Virginia, my son and I are just driving in Mesquite, let's have breakfast.  Oops wrong Virginia, someone who wanted to put an offer in on one of my listings

Tom:  Same problem with the emails and that's why I have to have a super spam filter!

Tim and Pam:  Same same!

I wasted a few days of my time and theirs years ago trying that kind of marketing inspections to agents.  Then I found I could turn it around and go straight to the buyers instead of having my stuff filed in the circular file.

I like it so much better.  Client referrals are Great!

Google Juicce is great.

I've learend I don't have to be totally rude to get off the phone with sales callers.

Just a simple "I'm not interested, thank you" and click.  End of conversation.

Erby:  Thank you!  Then my buyer uses you and I like you and I recommend you over and over.  Isn't it best to go directly to the business rather than trying to crack the code of someone that may already have a rolodex?

My computer doesn't have a circular file and what's a rolodex anyway? JK.

You didn't mention my favorite incoming sales call from the pen guy! Of course he never leaves a message.

My Pet Peave? Someone who calls you once, leaves a voicemail then considers it your responsibility to call them over and over until you get them.
