1. Carpool lane - 1st time $1068.50 starting 7/1/07 (The $271 posted on the highway is old).  Don't do it again because the 2nd time is going to be double. 3rd time triple, and the 4th time your license will be suspended.

2. Incorrect lane change - $380. Don't cross/change the lane on solid lines or intersections.

3. Block intersection - $485

4. Driving on the shoulder - $450

5. Cell phone use in the construction zone. - Double fine as of 07/01/07.  Cell phone use must be "hands free" while driving.

6. Passengers over 18 not in their seat-belts - both passengers and drivers get tickets .

7. Speeders can only drive 3 miles above the limit.

8. DUI = JAIL (Stays on your driving record for 10 years!)

9. As of 07/01/07 cell phone use must be "hands free" while driving.  Ticket is $285. They will be looking for this like crazy - easy money for the police department.

I am so sorry that I depended on someone else for this information.  You will see the amended information below.

1. The fine on this is$380.00 not $1068.50

4.  $190.00 not$485.00

5. This law does not go into effect until7/2008 however all violations in a construction zone are doubled.

7. Even one mile over the speed limit can elicit a ticket.

8.  This depends on your record and if you decide you don't want to take the sobriety test. There is no set fine.

9. This law does not take effect until 7/2008 and then the fine for first offence would be $20.00 second offence $50.00.

I wish to apologies for the incorrect information and not doing my homework.  However I would like to state; It would be nice if everyone was as quick to make comments on a positive level as they are to point out errors. :)  Have a great day.

The corrected information comes from http://www.snoops.com

Okay, I have to say, that's a little bit insane, there.  So much for ever even being a tourist in California again!

This information isn't correct. It looks like someone just made all this stuff up.

"7. Speeders can only drive 3 miles above the limit."

This is total bullshit, the law is the speed limit, officers give you about 10 mph over because if people fought the tickets in court they would win. We have better things to worry about then people talking on their phones, eating in the car, listening to the radio, or going 2 mph over the speed limit. What about driving tired, are we gonna ban that too?

First time I ever don't check something like this out on snopes first and it turns out to be a hoax. Argh!  (Remember, www.snopes.com is your friend - always check with them before forwarding on anything that comes to you in your email as a forward of a forward of a forward of a . . . well, you get the idea!)

Well, Roberta, as for me, I'm so embarrassed at not having checked it out before my first comment (I KNOW better - I NEVER react without checking out anything that sounds outrageous! BLUSH!) that I'm not sure what to say.  Besides which, if it's a hoax that someone sent out, what's there to say?

You'll be pleased to know, though, that on the Update that I just got emailed to me from snopes of the newest, most comment, most forwarded hoaxes out there (and a few things that are real), it's number one on the list.

Well I wouldn't call it a hoax.  There were some of the fines that were misquoted and one date wrong.  If you noticed I added the corrected ones at the bottom of  the post.  I will, for sure, remember snoops even if I trust the sender, which I did this time.  I know that it was not deliberate on their part.

Thanks for your comments and for stopping by.

TO NO NAME

I just love it when someone writes a remark like yours and does not have the courage to sign their name.  Please do call the DMV and then write back with what they tell you.

Well, no name I think we all HAVE TO CARE about the laws because to break them will be expensive= no matter what the actual fees are, they are still costly.  I think AR should not let anyone comment without a name! It makes it all look like it is a play thing to annoy folks.

Roberta thank again for the post and yes, I saw the correction.  I want to know how you were able to make a correction on your post.  That is important to me as a blogger here.  Thanks again.

Wow. Amazing. To think there are people that live on these email blogs. Interesting.

If I need to know a DMV law I will go straight to the source. Sorry about the intrusion, I'm just

responding to an email sent to me. Carry on.
