9 Year Old with Juvenile Diabetes
My good friend Liz is on a quest. If you can help her out in any way, please do so. Read below to find out how and why.
Type 1 (Juvenile) Diabetes Facts
Type 1 (juvenile) diabetes strikes children suddenly, makes them dependent on injected or pumped insulin for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. While diagnosis most often occurs in childhood and adolescence, it can and does strike adults as well.
About a year ago, nine year old Anna Felder (our niece), was diagnosed with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes ---she has been a real trooper throughout this ordeal. She gives herself her insulin shots daily --she knows what she can and cannot eat -- she is good as gold about doing what she is supposed to do.
This is a terrible disease --- I am here today to ask for your support.
Boyd (hubby) and I will be walking on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009 in Columbia, SC with "Anna's Army" to help raise awareness about the disease and money to help with the research.
If you can find $1 or $5 or whatever you can spare, please go to this website and donate $ towards my walk. Some of you know that I have a "bad knee", but I will be walking anyway. It tears at my heart to see what Anna has to go through.
http://walk.jdrf.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=extranet.home when you get to that page, look at the right side of the bar across the top of the page -- it says "Donate" -- just click on that and it will lead you.
If you don't feel that you can contribute, just keep Anna in your prayers. Thank you so much.
