Oh to live life like a dog!

They are happy just to go for a walk, to sit in the car when you run errands, to play frisby or catch with the tennis ball, or just to sit next to you while your reading a book or watching tv. They dont ask much, just a meal, a couple treats, some loving and petting, some play time and plenty of sleep.

It reminds me about a sermon my pastor gave back when I was in High School, the parable about the flowers of the fields....how they dont worry and fret about the rain and the soil and the sun, they just grow and blossom and live life to the fullest.

Humans.....we make life so complicated and messy, with all our priorities, our "emergencies", our drama.....at the end of the day, how much of our day is consumed with things, that in the great scheme of things dont really matter.......

The dog is loyal, simple, basic, loving, affectionate & true.

The dog is there when I come home from a hard day at work, with his smile and energy he makes me forget in a minute about all of that other stuff, and just laugh and want to be with him!

Oh, to be a well cared for dog!

Some days I wish I were my dog. Pretty much this is what she does all day until I come and she starts bossing me around. Let me out, feed me, pet me, love me. She asks for very little but gives a lot back. She is a very good girl.

Lisa, thanks for your comments and the pix of your Dog, she is beautiful!

I grew up with cats, dogs, guinea pigs (sp), hamsters, and then when I moved out had a cat for 17 years, when I got a dog 5 years ago, I forgot how very different they are than other pets....I now know why so many people have them....I still love all animals, but my dog is like a son to me......he never fails to make me smile with some of the funny mannerisms he has picked up along the way to adulthood......I would do anything to make him comfortable and happy (and do every day).....and you are right, he gives back so much more than I could ever give!

thanks

Roger

Hi Roger - Sundance and I agree with you. There's one more trait that dogs have that is a great negotiating tactic -- the steady gaze, sometimes with a slowly wagging tail, until we give in and get them one more treat or take them for a walk in the park!

John, you are so right! All Marco has to do is drop his kong at my feet (over and over again), look at me with the happiest persistant look, and I get up and fill that darn bone again for him....he has trained me well....thanks for your comment!

Roger - I agree with Lisa.  I would love to live the life of my three "fur babies".  When I die, I want to come back as a pampered pet.
