Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on vaccinations and especially the H1N1 strain that has affected many people. I'm a big advocate for immunizations on the whole and, have in fact, been vaccinated against H1N1 yesterday. Sometimes it takes situations that are close to home to perhaps alter our beliefs; my great grandmother lost her life in 1918 to the Spanish flu pandemic that spread across Europe. She was a vibrant and healthy 33 year old woman in the prime of her life that lasted less than 24 hours from having contracted the virus. The Spanish flu is actually a sub-type of H1N1.  I feel that I owe it to her memory to protect my family from this strain to affect any more of our family. This is just my opinion and research does show that we, as a society, have been much healthier and live longer lives since the introduction of immunizations and the production of vaccines.
