It is 2:15 A.M. here in our section of Michigan.
...WHY am I up....& why am I attempting typing / computing at this hour?
good question....not such a fantastic answer however..
....you see, Tuesday was a second-to-last trim the trees / bushes "Winter Readiness"
assignment [ today will be the last of "trimming" jobs.
....I am allergic to pine trees, all varieties--usually resulting in bumps all over & no breathing ability
....my feet hurt a lot from the 500,000 ups & downs on the ladder
....my arms ache from holding the electric trimmer / with the 'lock' that doesn't LOCK
....my heart is guilty--as I requested Sal's help and with his asthma ?? not such a Good idea
[ I can hear him coughing all the way down here in the basement ]
....the antihistamine that I took isn't working too well
....and, as usual around here, the sprinkler guys are coming today in the A.M. to winterize the lines.
Other than the above,, all in all..a good time was had by both of us.
The weather today is predicted to be up to 57*--which is much better than what the BLUE guy brings.
... God willing, all the trimming will be completed in time for Leaf raking--another Joy. And it looks as if
Red Maples will have their leaves until January from the looks of it. I have been seen "raking" the
leaves while they are still on the limbs once it gets close to the end of November. So far, no-one
has called the truck with the "men in the White coats--wait, aren't they still at the White House ?]
As if our yard work was not enough to bring much laughter and Yucks to our Home, once inside on Fox Cable News came some heartwarming items as: "Michigan's Troubles" --rub it in why don't ya--huh.
This was about the article in the WSJ concerning:
..."The State of Joblessness" / sub-titled: The tragedy of Jennifer Granholm's Michigan
appearing on pg A20 in the Opinion section.
..."As for Ms. Granholm, she and House speaker Andy Dillon continue to bow to public-sector unions.
There are now 637,000 public employees in Michigan compared to fewer than 500,000 workers left
in manufacturing. Government is the largest employer in the state, but the number of taxpayers
to support these government workers is shrinking. the budget deadline is November 1, and
Ms. Granholm is holding out for tax increases rather than paring back state government."
....Now folks, that is just NOT right.
.... we were notified, in a thick packet, that our BC Advantage cost is going up in January 2010 to a high
dollar amount--guess they were serious when "THEY" decided that some of us have an "Advantage"
over other Michiganians [ I learned to say Michiganders--must be a slight toward Geese, too] LOL
As the youth of today say so eloquently, WHAT-EVER !
... Last, but not at all least, a vote in the FCC takes place on Thursday concerning "Net-Neutrality"
which on first blush seems to be a good thing to regulate the providers [ISP's] so ALL can be
treated equally: However--on closer examination, this seems a short hop, skip & jump from
having another Czar or Committee actually being able to control the net. I know, I know--that
is a dichotomy Net-neutrality means: the ability of the consumer--all consumers to .."access any
web content they want, post their own content, and use any applications they choose, without
restrictions imposed by the Internet service providers ISP's "...Common Cause
What concerns me is: can we not already do this just by switching between ISP's if they place
limits on us--the Consumers who PAY for their product; can we not already post our own comments
and posts on various sites; can we not put up or launch our own web sites; all of this is how the net
works now as I see it and it will continue to do so for us Consumers as long as we Pay for it & Play by
the rules of the sites we post upon, the items we download , the way we construct our Blogs, etc.
What is the problem with they way it works now:
....adults can control how their minor children interface with others on the net--via "Parental Controls"
....Professionals / Business operatives can utilize the 'instant-ness' of the net
....many sites offer "Free" and "Premium" options of their products--sometimes "Free" is enough
....free-speech advocates can find little to complain about if offensive, abusive, & hate language is
shut out of various sites. There are many out there that allow for free-range wording
....If Consumers Pay for certain Internet products, there same consumers can & will control what is
out there for use simply by following the money. No pay, no play, no money in, no product
availability
FCC chairman Julius Genachowski is credited by Gigi Sohn / president of Public Knowledge,
"struck the right balance...when he announced a plan to require [REQUIRE] a free and open
Internet." " The ...proposal for additional transparency in how companies manage their traffic
coupled with new rules prohibiting big telephone and cable companies from discriminating against
some services in favor of others will go a long way to freeing investment not only in the network, but
also in new services and features."
When, when have "equalizing" rules ever brought about free enterprise and innovation; the use of
words as "transparency", "free", "open", " Public interest groups" and other similar words and phrases
can take on a sinister meaning when they will more than likely be followed by the appointment of
a person + staff who will 'oversee' Who, What, How & Where.
The only free thing in this world is the air we breathe...until ?????
We are free to give help, love, guidance & our own hard earned money should we so choose.
No more leveling of this playing field
No more removing all incentive from our youth to rise up and make something of life
No more taking from our parents the ability to 'parent' their children
No more dictating what parents, families, Young and Old alike must feel, do, believe
No more robbing Peter to pay Paul--the only one who wins there is Paul UNTIL-Peter's funds
are gone.
No more grown folks who actually believe that "Our President has his STASH" - funny, if not so sad.
Just some thoughts,
Just some words
Just some prayers
from a very itchy, red-eyed wonder Here in our section of Michigan.
Thanks for reading / Listening
One thing is for certain--the Bags under my eyes today will need wheeled carriers
or, better, a young, handsome Red Cap. LOL
