semifinalistsIt was announced today, October 21st, who the top 12 semi-finalists for the Army Wide competition, Operation Rising Star, were.

I am thrilled that I was chosen to be one of the top 12!  Last year we had a Night Stalker in the competition and this year we have a Lady Night Stalker! Me!

The competition will be taking place on November 14-20th in Ft. Belvoir, VA.  It will be on the Pentagon Channel if you are living on base.  If not, I will be getting more information on where you can watch the show.  It will be just like American Idol, where the viewing audience can call in to vote for their favorite performer.  I believe you will be able to vote online also.

This is the 2nd year in a row that Ft. Campbell, KY has had a contestant be in the top 12.  Last year our very own, Fatima McElveen, made it to 2nd place in the final competition. I hope to do Ft. Campbell proud this year too!  One of the important roles of this competition is the fans and their calling in or getting online to vote.  So, more information will be coming your way on how you can do this.

You can view my performances on my YouTube channel and see how I did for the 8 weeks during the competition at Ft. Campbell. Thank you all who voted to get me where I am now!

Thank you Tim, James and Roland!

I did an interview last week for MWR t.v. channel that might come on cable. When I married a Soldier at 18 and then 2 years later had 3 children every year for 3 years, my singing went on the back burner. When we moved to Ft. Campbell, which was so I could be closer to Nashville, a red flag went up when the big guys heard I had children. Then again, it's all in who you know. The only thing that kept my dream going was the 160th allowing me to sing the National Anthem. A couple of years ago I started giving up on my dream to entertain professionally because Nashville doesn't want anyone over 29. (Just heard that recently too by a producer that was one of the judges here at Ft. Campbell). So, since the Military is my life and being a Wife and Mother had to come first, which I would have it no other way, I tried out for this Operation Rising Star. The Military Idol. No age limit like American Idol. I am having a blast and I hope to take it all the way and bring back the "crown" to Ft. Campbell.

BUT in order to do that, I have to have votes. I can't stress that enough. I think people are getting tired of hearing it but the top 12 semi-finalist are all talented. It will come down to what the judges think and I am thinking it is like the local contest, 50%. Then the other 50% is what will move me forward, which is the fans.  So, if you want to be on my email list when I am done singing, I will be sending out a "VOTE NOW" with information on how in the 2 hour window they give, please email me so I can add your email to the fan list. I am getting it all together before I leave on November 8th.

Tim, thank you for seeing how hard I have worked for this.

James, thank you for your comment. I appreciate it.

Thank you for believing in me Roland.
