I just read this from pillartopost and realized that it was worth a post:

Safety First

Twenty-five percent of all household accidents occur in the bathroom. Take precautions and select nonslip materials for floors, tubs, and showers, and use bath mats with nonskid backing. Make sure your electrical outlets are protected with GFCI circuit interrupters, which cut off power immediately in the case of a current surge. These should be installed by a qualified electrician. Choose shatterproof or tempered materials when possible, and avoid installing wall fixtures at eye level. Finally, lower the setting of your water heater to avoid scalding and energy waste.

Good blog - we sometimes forget about danger lurking in our houses....

Funny bathroom story.  We were on a family vacation(15 of us in total) this summer, rented a beautiful house on a Lake in NH. My mother slipped in the bathtub while taking a shower and Fell Through The Wall.  Luckily she wasn't hurt but the whole was huge.

Most accidents do happen in bathrooms, but in this case make sure if there is a water problem behind the wall it is taken care off because otherwise if some bumps into the wall there will be a Big Hole.

Charles great information.  I recently heard of a guy who slipped in his tub and was severly injured!  I am going shopping for non slip materials for my tub very shortly.

We always think we are safe in our home and don't think about areas like the bathroom . Good advice.

Good saftey reminder, Charles.  Thanks for posting this one - Scalding water was one thing that scared me to death when we had little children in the house, and especially in the tub.
