That's an interesting photograph.  It has a more painted feel.

Is that a real woodpecker or a wooden one, Mike?  It looks fake.  Weird!

Great shot Mike!

Nice shot, Mike!  What I don't understand though is - - - how in the heck can they sit on a cactus?  OUCH!  :-)

It does look like a wooden woodpecker, Mike.  If that is real and you caught that shot, that is amazing, Mike.

Hi Mike,

Can hardly believe he is sitting on a cactus!  Amazing!  He is sitting so still - he really does not look real!  I agree with Jane, if he is real...you captured a great shot! Thanks for sharing!

Ha, that's funny!  I was expecting to see a woodpecker on some big tree, not on a cactus.  That made me laugh.

Mike, That is incredible.......it must be very difficult sitting on that!  Anyway, it's a wonderful photo!

Nice artistic shot, Mike! Aren't the holes in the saguaros from woodpeckers? Seems I heard that somewhere...

Mike

Looks like the woodpecker is the king of the mountain.

Good luck and success.

For the doubters...  LOL

Here is one of the original photos.  Please note that the post is included in the group "Photoshop Elements For Real Estate."

I lightened the photo to bring the saguaro out of the shadows, and then used the filter: Dry Brush.  Brush size: 2.  Brush detail: 7.  Texture: 2.

The result makes the photo into a watercolor painting.  It's fun, it's cheap, and you should try it.

Very cool Mike.  I guess people don't know that lots of animals hang out in the cacti around these parts.

Mike,

Taken in its natural state, this is a great photo. I am guessing that the woodpecker is sitting in a hallow that it created. :)

Steve,

Nope!  She's perched on those thorns, on the other side of the saguaro.

Doreen,

Probably not, now that you mention it.

That's one tough bird...reminds me of a few people I know.  Find the hardest place to nest and make it work for you!  Thanks.

Don,

Thanks for stopping by!  The thorns keep the snakes away from the nest.

I love the effect that you acheived with the brushes.  Way too advanced for me, but one day, maybe.  :-)
