I would like to say I've been on Twitter for about a year now, trying to help local residents of Beaverton with housing advice, book reviews for kids by kids, and reviews of local parks and hot spots. But never did I think me helping others would lead to meeting someone that was there just to offer their help to me without expecting anything in return.

Well, on Saturday morning, while out in about in Beaverton watching our best friends daughter be a cheerleader in the rain, I decided to do a little video on pee wee football and posted it on Twitter. (Here was the video, that started it all.)

Youth football in Beaverton on 12seconds.tv

Now, there really isn't anything special about the video, but the one comment I got on it was from Bill Stallard who just happened to work for Beaverton Honda. Now, this was nothing special, but what happened in the next 24 hours was. You see two hours after that video was shot, I was in a car accident. (You can read about that here) At the time of the accident, I immediately started using Twitter to post pictures and was updating everyone to how we were doing.

Beaverton Honda, Bill Stallard

Bill immediately contacted me via Twitter to make sure everyone was OK. He read that my Jeep was a total loss and that I was going to be on the lookout for a new one. Bill, sent me a direct message telling me if the insurance company didn't have me a vehicle quickly that he could get me one off his lot with no obligation. It turns out we didn't need to do that, but the gesture was greatly appreciated!

I had to meet this guy and thank him for his offer and when I arrived at Beaverton Honda, what I got when I got there was amazing. I got service!! You see, Bill isn't a salesman for Beaverton Honda, he is one of their directors. Now, he did have one Jeep on his lot that may or may not fit my needs depending on how much I get from the insurance company, but he really didn't try to sell me on it. Instead he gave me a list of at least 30 used Jeeps that met my criteria that posted on Twitter and not a one was on his lot! But, he said here is all the Jeeps in Portland metro area and if you find anything you like call me and I will pull you a Carfax report on the car at no cost to you.

WOW! I may not even be a customer of this guy and here he is offering his services of his company for a car that he doesn't service. I have to say that if I ever meet anyone looking for a car in the Beaverton area, I'm sending them to Beaverton Honda, because what Bill did for his company is to show they care more about people than they do about a sale!

If you are looking for a new or used car in Beaverton, give Bill a call at (503)572-7860 or email him at bstallard@beavertonhonda.com. I know he will treat you and your family right and get you the best deal even if it isn't on his lot because he understands what customer service is really about.

Now that is a 21st Century story!    We never know who is "following" us...they are, though, and when needed, they will surface.    Interesting!

Unbelievable! These are the kinds of people who will be a success at whatever they set their minds to. Service before sales. We could all learn a lesson from Bill.

It is amazing the people you can meet on Twitter. I have found that they are high-caliber professionals and it's been amazing to get to know these individuals. I love your story, this guy really "gets" customer service and social media. I'd buy a car from him :)

Hi Todd!
That is what we call above and beyond...and then a whole bunch more!  Bill will get his return and then some for his genuine caring.  Just gotta ask...what did you end up buying, or are you still waiting for the insurance company?

Todd - Great example of the how to use Twitter - but Twitter will never replace good old fashioned service.  Glad to hear that everyone is okay.
