The Nail In This Board Is From A Very Special Building In Salters, SC...

I am in love with this building... It was standing during World War II and has a very special history.

Am I teasing you by not telling you more? Maybe... Okay, yeah (LOL). I have 147 pictures of this wonderfully old and weathered structure that a resident was kind enough to explain to me while on tour with Highway Patrol. I want to do a Localism post worthy of it...

The eye witness to these events fascinated and captivated me. What charm and warmth southern hospitality has to a New Yorker. Looking forward to my next ActiveRain Road Trip.

Hmm... it's actually starts now (LOL).

Will be blogging live from I-95.

See you...

C - I'm a softie on old train stations. They echo to me when I walk-in and around. You are showing a true piece of Americana. Smiles from Charlotte

C. You are in my neck of the woods. I grew up in SC and didn't move to Florida until I was 21. Been all over that wonderful State.

Charming indeed.... much character in the wood.  Takes you away on a mind trip doesn't it?

Claude, I am enjoying my family and friends and discovering America in my own backyard (LOL). :-)

Ann, I love taking the bay-bays with me. Come take a virtual tour and see what I see. Will be sharing lots more photographs and creating new ones. I'm invading states while hugging I-95 (LOL). In VA right now and will be playing in MD later this afternoon. ;-)

Hi Papa! Awesome. My family was poking around here since the early 1600s. I wonder if we're related (LOL). ;-)

Diane, I would love to just hang out and paint by the side of the road (LOL). This place is incredible. They still have structures standing from slavery days. I got a few shots of two of 'em. Some of the woods have trees almost as wide as the hood on my car. So many untraveled paths I need to be on... Salters, SC is a very beautiful place... :-)

Sharon, I am totally into hand hewn buildings (LOL). I was checking out the bricks underneath and the really old ones are an off pink with mold marks. The resident told us of how the guys would ride the train rails from the saw mill in Charleston to come over and work here. Very cool. :-)
