I learned this expression in my senior year of high school when a smart English teacher, Mr. Glancy took a few minutes to share some basic grammer points every class. His points were more like don't use "center around" as two words back to back as they just keep you gong in circles! However, it's a great expression and certainly more than true each day in real estate and throughout life.

I've now lived in Atlanta since 1982 when I arrived in the big city from Florda to go to college. I'm always thrilled to learn new things about Atlanta and this continues to happen even after 25+ years here. I thought I would share some things I have learned or really enjoy about Atlanta.

One thing that surprises many folks is that we have a fantastic school that teaches in multiple languages such as Spanish, French and German. One day the elementary school teaches in English, the second day is in your language program. The school is the Atlanta International School  located in the heart of Buckhead and Garden Hills. This is a fantastic school with an International Bacculaureate program for the K4 (4 year olds) through Seniors in high school. What I really like about this true IB program is that the main objective is teaching you how to learn verses memorization.

I recently took my second tour of the school, they are continuing to expand on the site they took over from an Atlanta Public High School. They have a energenic new headmaster and tons of great plans. He mentioned while it's a fantastic program for the international families who are in Atlanta for a number of years, it's actually an even more rewarding experience for Americans in terms of the exposure to a global world.

This weekend is AIS celebration of WoldFest, Sunday October 25th, 2009 from 12:30 to 4. The whole community is welcome to take this enjoyable trip around the world. For kids get your "passport" stamped as you venture from country to country. For adults, enjoy a wide variety of foods and seeing the sights of the world. Growing up with just a bit of travel experience out of the US, it never really crossed my mind that folks come from a foreign land to live and work here a few years. Now, it's something I hope my children and I have the opportunity to do! Now, I'll have some international friends to visit when I get to go!
