Tivoli NY Water Tower

Coming down the hill and looking at the wonderful catskill mountain , suddenly this water tower appears as part of the landscape.  Besides providing water to the village of Tivoli, the Tivoli water tower is a sort of landmark,  if it wasn't there you wou miss it.

Hi Jennifer, It looks like it's easy to know when you're in Tivoli.  You just have to look to the sky:)

Hi Jennifer.  I don't know, how does one know?  Just kidding and would like to send and aloha greeting from Hawaii.

Richard in the winter when with the snow clad Catskill as a backdrop you can;t miss it.

Hello to you too.  I heard we will warm here later today however I would have preferred sitting on the beach on your beautiful island.

Harry - I think similar towers can be found in many areas in NY.

I miss the water towers of Texas that always had the city name on them. We're kind of boring out here with water towers. They are just huge, round tanks placed up on the top of a hill or mountain.

Reminds me now of Jeff Foxworthy: "You might be a redneck if you had to climb to the top of a water tower with a bucket of paint to defend your sister's integrity."

Jennifer, I haven't seen this in so many years!  Wow, makes me realize how long it's been since I spent time upstate.  Thanks for the photo, I enjoyed it.

I really like old water towers like that.  I'm a fan of small towns and the charm they have.  Of course, I'm a city girl, but the get away to a wonderful, quiet place is always nice.  Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jennifer,

I love seeing these water towers, doesn't seem to be too many of them left around. Seeing something like this takes me back to my childhood, thanks for the nice memories.

We don't have any water towers around here, Jennifer.  I think they are more of a midwest to east coast kind of thing.  I always think of a small town when I see these.

Hi Jennifer... I am not sure why, but water towers are just riminders of simpler times for me.  This one is a nice looking one!

Jennifer,

Good question, good answer. Doesn't appear to be any graffiti on the water tower, so that is good. :)

Hi Jennifer,

I can remember in my home town we use to have a water tower like that.  You could see it for miles. Makes me home sick.
