I was on the hunt for historic churches from the 1800s when I wandered across the road to enjoy one of the most beautiful and delicate creations from God. They are incredibly soft and make me itch to touch them. I love plants. They're like snowflakes. No two are alike (LOL). Fascinating, I have never seen cotton before it has been harvested. Thanks for sharing these pictures. Several years ago, my wife and I drove up the east coast from Florida. Oneo of the things I remember about these southern coastal states was that there were so many churches many of which were quite old.

Charles, I had to buy a new simm card just for this road trip. I have simply just been humbled at what people are willing to share and show when you whip out a laptop and show them you blog (LOL). Southern hospitality is amazing... I'm showing off ActiveRain to the locals while slowing down to enjoy the tiny moments and meandering through the backwoods to see sights I didn't know were there. Right now I am playing in VA and will do MD tomorrow. It may take me a while to finish SC. I have hundreds of photographs. :-)

I love old churches too - and the cotton is very cool - Are you on a holiday again girl? gosh I don't know how you do it ALL! :-)

Hello love. Melodious and I are cooking up our TX tweetup (LOL). Working on getting to KY TN and NC shortly. I absolutely love old churches. There is something so soothing and beautiful in admiring hand crafted works of art and the way people put so much of themselves into creating a place of worship... Liz, you have so gotta show me some of your old churches. I'm looking forward to seeing your blog up close and personal. :-)

Carolyn, bolls of cotton, Spanish moss, old souther Baptist churches, brings back memories of my youth growing up in the rural south. Thanks for the trip down memory lane ☺☺☺

Hi, Carolyn. What a gorgeous picture of the cotton boll! I first saw cotton in the field in Alabama, driving from Vermont to Florida. My brain registered it as SNOW at first...LOL.

The Boll Weevil Monument in Enterprise AL is testiment to "the rest of the story."

Carolyn, my daddy made his living as a cotton broker. I used to play in the warehouse full of bailed cotton...now that was fun!

C - now this is a bit weird, I was going to head out and get some cotton field pictures later today after I teach a business planning class at the office.

Thanks for the photos. It has been awhile since I have seen a field of cotton. I love getting off the Interstates and riding in the rural south. It has been awhile.

I've never seen cotton plants before, what a cool picture. You have the best nose for eye candy!

Michael, I am looking forward to bringing the wee people down for a visit. I have so many great memories of playing in SC with my cousins as a kid. Noah loves planting trees. I'm on-line looking for a new one to order so it will get here in time for the shorties to do a little digging in the dirt later. :-)

Since my Tomtom can't find a valid GPS signal I have been collecting maps on the way back to try and figure out what I may want to visit while wandering around taking the scenic route home. I'm pissed because I programed a bunch of landmarks in it but had to wipe the drive to try and re-set it. It still doesn't know where I am (LOL). It lost me in PA last Sunday and hasn't been able to catch me since (ROTFL).

SarahGray, I bet that was a lot of fun. The kind of fun that gives a kid a big cool aid grin. :-)

Thanks for sharing these great photos with us. I am amazed when I see cotton in the fields, it looks like the plants have snow on them! I also love photos of churches, it looks like a beautiful area!

JL, it was great. Every time I got comfy exploring somewhere people would wave and come on over to see why I was so interested (LOL). The people were just so sweet and friendly. :-)
