I recently wrote a post about the University Of Tennessee football team, the VOLS, and the incredible support they enjoy in this part of the country. It was inspired by some amusing pictures I took, after realizing how many things in this area are orange-and-white, the team colors. http://activerain.com/blogsview/1247944/seems-like-everyone-in-tennessee-is-a-vols-fan-.

Even Pets Are VOLS Fans!

I came down the pet food aisle in Walmart the other day, here in Jamestown, Tennessee, and just had to laugh when I saw this endcap display of clothes for dogs, all in the distinctive VOLS orange and white! My Siamese cat, Tazz, wears a harness and walks on a leash so...I couldn't resist!

Judging by the proliferation of "clothes" for dogs, this is clever marketing on someone's part. I'll bet other pet owners won't be able to resist, either!

Leslie: Animals toys and clothing (not to mention food and treats) is a multi-billion dollar industry.  It's amazing how we "dress" our pets.  With Halloween right around the corner ... I guess Tazz is ready to go!

Hi, Kathleen. Thanks for commenting. I can't believe how the section of animal clothing has burgeoned...when I go into someplace like Petsmart or Petco, there are more clothes for dogs than I have in MY closet!

Tazz is always ready to go; he LOVES to ride in the car and walk on his leash. Now he has his new "fleece" for fall football season!

That is great!  I can't believe Tazz allowed you to put that on him!

My husband bought a pair of bright orange gloves because they had the "T" on them and our last name is Tara.  He had no idea what they represented.  He wore them last weekend when we went to tag our Christmas tree and some guy yelled "Hey, Tennessee!" as we walked by.  Coincidentally, that was the day the Patriots were playing the Titans.  We were lucky it was a Titans fan that recognized them and not a Patriots fan or we could have been run out of town!

I live minutes from the Cumberland Trailhead into Big South Fork National Park, in Spruce Creek Acres, an equestrian community that abuts the park itself. Horses are a major part of daily life here and this is a very active, supportive horse-oriented community. It is a gift to work as a realtor here, listing horse properties and selling horse properties to horse people! We joke that I've probably done more real estate on horseback than off! If you want to "live where you love to ride," let me help you find YOUR Big South Fork horse property .
