Need Refresh GuyIf you can start relating to looking like this worn out caricature maybe in your Real Estate life you need to

Give Yourself Permission For A Pause That Refreshes.

I have been seeing the contrast between the work burnout victims dragging big time and those coming back from for example a road trip to the mountains all invigorated. Rest and relaxation is needed by all of us.

Look ahead and put something on the calendar. Thanksgiving week, something around Christmas. Don't think scheduling time with extended family necessarily qualifies as rest. Sometimes that is MORE stress.

But periodic letting your mind and your body wander in different directions definitely recharges your batteries. It is more than all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. It is about thriving and not existing. Your inside needs the recharge for the outside to perform its best!!

Gary, I don't know where you found that guy but I love him. I've been working on settling my great aunts estate since February. It's really taken a toll on me and my work. With that winding down and the holidays coming I took my husband and dog down to her farm Tuesday for a long relaxing picnic. Best day I've had in months!

Hi Gary,

Yes it is a great idea for a "Pause That Refreshes!" It's amazing how a little diversion for a few days exploring a new area, town or city can work wonders! No calls, no advice and no talking real estate! I'm looking @ my calendar now!

If I can take this space to remind Sheldon he needs to put me on his calendar!

Hi Gary!!  I am pausing to reflect that I'm glad we are friends.  Enjoy the day!

HA!  Folks are surprised to find that I play just about as hard as I work, which is very hard.

Gary:  I'm looking forward to some R&R over the holidays.  Christmas is my favorite time of year.

Gary,  I totally agree with you about the need to recharge our batteries.  I've found that even if I can't take even a couple of days off to get some R&R, that even one full day here and there to do something fun - go someplace new - is so worthwhile for my mental and physical health.

Timely. It's called vacation. I need one of those so bad right now.

Great reminder. We forget how slow and dragging we become when we're burned out. It run's through our head that we can't afford the time off, but in reality, we're more efficient when we come back!

I'm gearing up for a trip to a wedding in FL in a few weeks.  I get to see family, friends and enjoy walks on the beach.  The first real vacation of the year.  Can I leave now?

We're so blessed to be so busy right now, but we are really looking forward to some time off after CHRISTmas to relax and do something special. Everyday we get a little closer to that reward :)

Sometimes just getting away for a couple of days works wonders for me.  I am so looking forward to the holidays!

Gary, It's funny, when I get back I always realize I could have used just a few MORE days :)  Although if I stayed away too long, I'd be missing my work..it's a fine line for me.

I recognize myself in that burn out character!  Early next week I am going to complete two closings, then climb in my car and drive 15 hours to spend a few days laying on the floor while my grandbabies crawl all over me!

Gary, I was recently told that we should schedule 4 vacations a year, especially in a bad market like this - to avoid burn-out.  I always try to have a trip on the upcoming calender to give myself something to look forward to when I am working hard and starting to drag.

I'd love to book the NFR in Vegas but .... won't make it this year. Guess it wouldn't be too restful anyway. 10-4 re time with family doesn't always relieve stress.

Sometimes you do need something to look forward to. Nothing is on my calendar right now, with the exception of the standard holidays. Although we do have a lot of events going on (football, cheerleading, horseshows, etc). Those kids sure are busy.

Gary ~ It always does wonders for me.  I just took 4 days to go surprise my husband that is working in Hollywood, Fl.  You can imagine the look on his face at 4:30am when I arrived from driving all night.

ps  I like your new photo!

Gary:  I think this is a proven fact, I know it holds true for me.  I even try to take one day or at least one-half day during the 7 day week for some sort of break.  It's so easy to get caught up working virtually 24/7.  I missed church one too many times and finally decided that work on Sunday must start at 2pm (unless a client has made a previous appointment).  It, at least almost assures me some time out to spend with God and family.

That's why I find myself crawling into bed by 9pm some days of the week. A good sleep is always healthy for the soul. Just as my phone batteries need re-charging, my body and mind does too.

Ok. Guilty. This could have been a snapshot of me last week. Took a few days this weekend and regrouped. We all need to "step away" now and again!
