Website Up to STOP Transfer Tax in MissouriAmerican flag by Ann Hayden

Missouri Residents go to this website to learn about the transfer tax and how you can help stop it.  Vote Yes to Save Missouri's Homes.  Under current state law, a transfer tax is possible.  At time when families are struggling to make ends meet, we need to send a clear message to our policital leaders we are against any double taxation.

"This unfair double taxation can happen in Missouri under current law. We are asking voters to keep politicians from penalizing Missourians with bad public policy that denies fairness and defies Missouri common sense," said Elizabeth Mendenhall, a REALTOR® from Columbia, Missouri, and spokesperson for the Vote Yes To Stop Double Taxation campaign committee.

Ann, we have that here. The seller pays a transfer fee. It is double taxation if you ask me. Great post!

Ann, like Andrea said, we have a Transfer Tax here in Connecticut which Sellers pay at Closing, and the last three years they have been trying to impose one on the Buyers as well.  We have been able to stop the one on Buyers, and I hope you guys are able to prevent them from imposing one on your Sellers.

Good luck on fighting it - we were fortunate to be succesful last year in defeating the implementation of a transfer tax for our market area.

George,

Getting the word out to the people should help in this matter...  I cannot believe how many times we are taxed on everything....
