Background Story

We tried for two years to get pregnant; we started seeing the doctor about it in January 2007...and Poof! We found out that we were pregnant on the 19th of January! We were so overjoyed and ecstatic that we cried. Bo was born on September 12, 2007 and we discovered a love that is indescribable.  We have embraced parenthood every minute.

As a baby we have fought chronic bronchitis, allergies, and asthma. Bo was given the all clear in June 2009. In August, Bo started throwing up every night, then every morning. It was getting so bad that he got dehydrated and admitted to Upson Regional Medical Center on August 20, 2007. Dr. Delli-Gatti, Bo's pediatrician, ordered a series of tests to find out where the vomiting was coming from. When all the tests came back clean, Dr. Delli-Gatti ordered a CT scan, which showed that Bo had a Posterior Fossa Brain Tumor. Our world stopped at this moment.

Within 30 minutes of receiving this horrible news, we were life-flighted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta @ Scottish Rite and went straight into surgery to put in a shunt to relieve the pressure of the fluid on the brain. After the shunt was put in, Bo had stopped vomiting and returned to his spunky, comedic self.

On August 26, 2009, Dr. Hudgins, the neurosurgeon, was able to remove 99% of the tumor. The rest was too dangerous to try to remove because it was attached to the brainstem.  In the preliminary pathology results, we discovered that the tumor has a name, medulloblastoma. Medulloblastoma is an aggressive grade 4 tumor which requires chemo and radiation to kill the rest.

Immediately following surgery, Bo developed Posterior Fossa Syndrome where his left side of his face is paralyzed, he has mutism and irritability. Luckily, Bo did not have to have a permanent shunt and his shunt was successfully removed on Wednesday, September 2nd.

Currently, Bo is in rehab and improving every day.  Bo will be starting chemo next week. He will have to have chemo for 6 months to a year with focus radiation following.

God has blessed us with wonderful and loving family and friends. God is the ultimate physician and we have all trust in Him. Thank you for all the prayers! We love you!

Mike, I most certainly will!  I posted this for two reasons: 1. To get the word out through the Localism channel about his upcoming benefit & 2. I KNOW how supportive everyone is on AR and the more people joining us in prayer for this family, the more MOUNTAINS will be moved!
