Myrl, It is a beautiful picture but my first thought was seeing the flag at half mast.

Beautiful as only you woukd do. I posted that tribute I spoke to you about. Myrl, I am as pleased as punch that I met you here and what you have to offer here in the Rain. I think there are so many of us that know best that a good photo is worth way more than a thousand points words, :-)

Konnie - The California capitol is fashioned a bit after the nation's capitol.  I need to get back to Washington D.C. one day and really tour it, rather than flying through!  I've flown through Dulles twice twice and regretted it both times.

Marchel - If I remember correctly, I snapped this picture ths summer.  The half-mast was in honor of firefighters who had lost their lives fighting wildfires.

A great, great shot.  When in Sacramento ten or so years ago, I remember feeling fairly much at home--the area around The Capitol Building in Sacramento felt eerily similar, though not identical by any means, to the Pa State Capitol Building in Harrisburg, Pa.  Beyond the bricks and mortar, it stands as an enduring promise. Thanks for sharing this.

Beautiful photo Myrl. I really like the way you took it looking through the opening of the trees.

Hi Myrl, I've yet to visit California but I love domed architecture.  Now you've got me wanting to go look up some recent "dome" photos I took.  I hope you have a lovely weekend.  Can't wait to see what magical photo moments you find this weekend.

Hello Myrl, that is a great angle on the capitol building.  I've driven by a few times but never stopped to photgraph it (I think the last time through the weather was very hot -- at least hot for this guy from the Pacific Northwest!)  John

William - And what a wonderful tribute it is. . .It's featured in the "Photos" group:

Nancy - I'm learning that a number of the state capitol buildings have similarity to one another, and to the nations capitol.

Lee and Carol - Believe it or not, it was fairly early in the day on a Sunday when I snapped that photo.  I was actually driving down the street with virtually no traffic and shot it from the car.

Jenny - I hope you have a great weekend too!

Alexander - Sacramento is known to have a number of pretty hot days in summer.  It can stop folks who aren't use to it.

Sasha - Your very welcome. . .I'm glad you liked it!

Absolutely beautiful, Myrl !!!!!!!  I like how you framed the rotunda between the trees.  What are the chances of filling it with people who will spend the Californians' money wisely?

I like the slightly darker background so the beautiful white stone would not disappear into the sky.

Well done!!!!!

Beautiful picture, Myrl.  It does look similar to the Capitol in D.C. which I have been able to visit a few times.  I've been to Sunny California but not in this area.

Hi Myrl,

I got the opportunity once, several years ago, to visit Sacramento. I remember thinking then what a wonderful, majestic building the Capitol it is!

Maybe I'll get the chance to visit again one day!

Myrl,

Nice clear shot of the capitol building in California. Many of the State capitols are patterned after or similar to the national one. :)

Such a beautiful and well-framed picture. I wonder why the flat is at half-mast.
