My owner is a marketing & business consultant in San Diego.I get two or three emails each week that start or end with "How do you do so much each day?"

I have a very simple method, one that I've been using for about 43 years, and it was taught to me by my wise old grandmother when I was just 11.

Today, I'm going to share it with you, although I think I've shared it before but I can't find that post. Since I'm sure it's an old post, it's probably ugly looking and doesn't have a picture of Zoey the Cool Cat ignoring ActiveRain in favor of simply looking out the window.

UPDATE: I have decided not to share my secret. Sorry.

DOUBLE UPDATE: I've had a change of mind and have decided to share my secret after all, so here it is.

Before the day ends, I sit down and plan my activities for tomorrow. I know some people do this first thing in the morning, but I think that is just a procrastination excuse to delay actually starting the day. By doing it at the end of each day, what I accomplished that day is still fresh in my mind, and many times I promised something to someone within 24 hours, so getting that near the top of my planned activities for tomorrow can be vitally important.

Although I'm a catnapper, I still get about eight hours of sleep each day, just like everyone else. So I attribute the amount of work (and play!) that I get done each day to my daily plan, not the ability to catnap.

Start planning for tomorrow, today!

Is that cat ordering special cat food on that computer and waiting for your credit card number to clear, or sending email to another cat cross country he met on line, on efeline.com?

Russel, You know that Zoey just wants you to think that AR is being ignored.  Stealth Kitty.  Making a list the night before does make sense, you get a head start in the morning.  I'll have to try it.

Russel, I pre-plan my day the night before.  It may sound funny to some but I actually find it usually helps the day go much smoother.

Hey, Andrew - I think she was sending an email to her friends Cosmo and Magic up in Wisconsin when I walked in.

Hey, Susan - My co-workers always wondered why I was finished with my morning work by the midmorning break while they were just getting started on theirs.

Hey, Larry - Hopefully you have a congregation that listens to your sermon because it's a good one.

Hey, Carole - I definitely attribute the quality of my days to my planning the night before and have always tried to convey the importance of planning in advance to my Clients and employees. Some of listened, some have not, but the ones who listened have always done better than the ones who did not. That, to me, says a lot.

Hi Russel: Great advice.  Those who fail to plan --> plan to fail!

That's pretty good advice! I think my mind turns things over while I sleep because solutions have often come to me by the next morning. It must be the same with plans...input them so they can be germinating during the night.

Russel, can not believe you posted on this. Procrastination is one of my vices. Am going to try to follow  your advice as always. You do seem to accomplish a great amount and so it must be great advice!  Guess you know there are just 60 more days BTW!! :D

This is so important.  I've been planning for tomorrow for as long as I can remember.  I used to have my clothes picked out for school the night before.  Ok, so I'm an organization freak...I admit it.  It makes life so much less stressful to live this way though.  Great post!

When I plan for tomorrow I do seem to get more done. When I wait until morning I have trouble thinking of all the things I need to do!

Well, that is a really good idea. Planning it tonight, makes it easier to remember what to do first thing in the morning. I have to say that when I plan it in the AM, I'll sometimes come across something I needed to do first thing and now Im a little late because I didnt remember in time. Had I done it the night before, I would have noticed it as a priority. Thanks for the tip.

I do it your way....and I also have a file on line I keep all day for what will end up on the '"tomorrow" to do list...or the memory bank may fail....and it will end up on the "shoulda, woulda, coulda" if I had remembered list !

I like that idea. I am not a morning person and end up not planning properly when I get up.
