Just a couple more days and it'll be here!  Five days to be exact!

The Coastal Carolina Fair always comes around Halloween for us.  So that gives the kids a great opportunity to strut their costumes a little longer or take part in the pumpkin contests!53rd Annual Coastal Carolina Fair

This year the fair is celebrating their 53rd year.  The gates will open on Thursday, October 29th at 3pm for ten fun-filled days!

What's really cool is that there is entertainment every single night the fair is open.  The first night will feature Paul Revere & the Raiders.  Some of the other performances that we'll have a chance to see are James Gregory, Lady Antebellum, Percy Sledge, Tracy Byrd, Neal McCoy, The Lettermen, Julianna Hough, Jake Owen and Chairman of the Board.  And fireworks are every night as well!

And then there's the rides!  There are so many great rides every year, for adults and kids alike.  You can get a hand-stamp every night for one low price and rides all the rides as much as you want.

Advanced tickets are on sale right now at all area Piggly Wiggly grocery stores.  The advanced price is $6 for ages 13+, $4 for ages 6-12, and kids 5 and under are free.  After opening day, you can purchase tickets at the gate for $8 for ages 13+ and $5 for ages 6-12.

You can also get advanced hand-stamp tickets for $17, but if you want to wait and get them at the fair it will cost you $20.

One of the best qualities of the Coastal Carolina Fair is that all of the proceeds stay right here in the Lowcountry.  They have donated millions to local charities throughout the years.  A few of the recipients have been the Ronald McDonald House, as well as various senior, youth, and community outreach programs.

So are you ready?!  Just a few short weeks and the wait will be over.  But the fun only lasts for 10 event-filled days, so be sure to make your plans now to get out to the fair!

Hi Jim & Maria, Looks like a good line-up and a lot of fun at the fair.  I saw Paul Revere and the Raiders in Branson, - just not the same as in "the good old days" but the band was really good. I would love to see several of those others perform - Have fun and let us know who you went to see!

Toula: This will show my youth, but I really don't know that band at all.  I think I've heard of them from fairs in the past, but I know nothing about them.  I'm sure they'll put on a good show, though.

Matt: They're usually really good about getting one or two big names, which of course draws huge crowds on those nights.

Mary: We'll definitely make it out for at least one day of the fair, but I'm not too sure that the little guy will make it to the performances.  Stranger things have happened, though :)

Sounds like fun. I would go to see The Lettermen. I had no idea that there were still Piggly Wiggly stores in business. The ones in Riverside where I grew up left decades ago.

Jim: I always thought Piggly Wiggly stores were a southern thing and that they were never on the other coast.  I guess I was wrong.  They do alot with in the community.
