Playing with fall colors...

Finally, afte what seemed to be a week of gray overcast days the sun finally came out here in middle Tennessee. The last cool snap has started bring out the vibrant colors so atypical of this area.

These vibrant colors are just too good not to have fun with.
Although your typical pictures of the fall foliage can be great, why not be a little more abstract. By putting your camera on aperture priority, and setting it to the smallest iris possible, and using a zoom lens, you to can create neat effects such as this. Try it some time.

Michael,

This is a nice color spectrum from your area.  I should've waited two weeks to go down.

Michael, it was a gorgeous day here in Middle Tennessee today.  As I was driving I thought I needed to pull over and take some photos.  Obviously, I didn't, but I am glad you )as always) had your camera on the ready.  Love the creative photography.

It was an absolutely perfect day here on the Crystal Coast.  The colors are just barely starting to show themselves.  Cool photo technique.

Michael, After lots of rain we are having pretty weather also.  No fall colors here though.  Our leaves don't turn until December and then they just turn brown and fall.  I need to learn the aperture settings.  I have not figured out a good way to remember them.  I'm thinking maybe I need to take a class.

With so many point and shoot cameras now, it's nice to see someone using manual adjustments!

When I taught photography in college, playing like you did here always allowed me and my students to really get creative.

Great stuff Michael.

Michael...

I like shooting Christmas lights that way with an open aperture and a zoom shift. It's a cool effect!
