William,

This is a pretty awesome picture...it took more than a 35mm to get that clarity...

Thanks, it's always a pleasure to see what you are up to.

Wow, That is a fantastic photo.  That must have taken a special camera to capture that detail.  Thanks so much for sharing.

Hi Yevette and Dennis. Taken with the same small Pentax and telephoto lens. That is what is showing in my personal photo.

Hi Tom, Thanks. I was just wondering what it would like if I took the photo. Taken Friday night Oct. 23. Actually I had hoped to see it even better.

William - I have NEVER been able to capture the moon successfully. . .Of course I have never tried while using a tripod.  That would be an important first step.  The second step would be to tell the tripod and the moon to not breathe while snapping the picture. . .and to smile:-)

Hi Myrl, While I was at Yosemite at the Book store where I could see all of Ansel Adams books and photography ( like a museum in some ways), I saw this single pod stick for a camera that can be used a single pod or opened at the bottom to convert into a tripod. So that's what I use now and it works out really well. Very versatile. I know that when using the telephoto it really helps to be able to get things like this. I used to get the climbers on El Captain. Otherwise I doubt it would have come more than a blur. They were a very far distance from me. I took it from the street actually. Others stopped as well so we all got our photos.

Hi Lynda, I was just thinking about you and will drop over to your post. I did something a bit different and would love for you to see it. It is a tribute to Ansel Adams. I hope you will see it and give me some feedback. It was to introduce a new resource for presentations. Enjoy.

Hi Lielani, Thank you so much. I was both surprised and pleased that it came out clear enough to see some of the details. I did use a tripod to hold the camera still enough to be able to capture it.

Hi William,

I have two new tripods because I love to take the night time photos and didn't always have the one with me that I wanted, so now I can always have one in the car.

Shopping for new lenses...

I love your work, you are really good.

Hi Judi, While trekking around the Sierra Nevada mountain range, I found this just released monopod that is designed as a walking stick with camera attached. The 3 thin legs collapse tightly together to form the base of a walking stick. What I liked about it was that it is light weight, provides for instant setup ( top fitted with a powerful magnet to allow camera literally to be carried in horizontal position right on the stem). The monopod has an adjustment for height ( tight vacuum fitting) that is very stable. It was manufactured by Trek Tech. I will write a post about it because it is really neat. Great for travel, natural settings, events because it is so unobtrusive and light weight.

Thank you so much for the compliment. But I know and recognize that I am still learning as a novice. Sure is fun!
